The three characteristics of the five aggregates, twelve places, and eighteen realms, as well as the twelve links of dependent origination. The first is: Form is the nature of being able to be changed, feeling is the nature of experiencing, perception is the grasping of characteristics, formation is the manifestation of action, to know separately in the object, consciousness is its own nature. The nature of the aggregates is suffering, the nature of the realms is like a poisonous snake. Form, when colored objects touch each other, because they can produce change, they are the nature of being able to be changed. Feeling is the nature of experiencing the coolness and heat of the results of good and evil karma. Perception is the grasping of the uncommon characteristics of all dharmas; formation is the mind manifesting action and shaking in the object. To know separately in the objects such as form is the nature of consciousness. The aggregates of taking are the nature of any of the three sufferings. The nature of the realms, in a way that is in accordance with the Dharma, is considered to be the nature of a poisonous snake. The second is: The Buddha said that the places are the doors of birth. These twelve places (346a) are said by the Buddha to be the doors of the arising of suffering. The third is: What is dependent origination, that is the nature of aggregation. What is dependent origination, that is the nature of aggregation, because it arises from the aggregation of causes and conditions. Second, the nature of the path and the nature of the fruit are two kinds. First, the perfections and samadhi, etc., as well as the Bodhipakshika-dharmas, and the three doors of liberation, and the four explanations of the nature of the eight liberations. The first is: Giving is the perfection of giving, discipline is the nature of no heat, patience is the nature of no anger, diligence is the nature of no fault, meditation is the nature of holding, wisdom is the nature of no attachment, the nature of these six perfections is these. Samadhi and the four immeasurables, as well as other formless samadhis, these are said by the perfectly enlightened one to be the nature of non-distraction. Giving is giving up one's own body and enjoyment, etc., is the perfection of giving,

Discipline is characterized by abandoning harm and benefiting others, and by being free from the affliction of disturbing emotions. Patience is characterized by being without anger towards those who harm. Diligence is characterized by fully upholding virtue, and therefore is of a faultless nature. Contemplation is characterized by gathering all virtuous qualities. Wisdom is characterized by being without attachment to anything, because it leads to nirvana. Therefore, it is said that these are the respective characteristics of the six perfections. The four meditations, the four immeasurables, and likewise the other four formless absorptions, are said by the perfectly enlightened Buddha to have the characteristic of being undisturbed and without anger, because they are attained by being free from attachment to desirable objects and abandoning anger. Secondly, the thirty-seven factors of enlightenment are of a nature that definitely leads to liberation. The thirty-seven factors of enlightenment are the cause of transcending samsara, and therefore have the nature of being able to definitely lead to (346b) liberation. Thirdly, the nature of emptiness is complete stillness because there is no object of focus. Signlessness is the nature of peace. The third nature is without suffering and ignorance. The nature of emptiness, the door to liberation, is the nature of complete stillness because it is praised as being close to the stain of conceptual thought due to the absence of an object of focus. The nature of signlessness, the door to liberation, is the nature of peace through the absence of an object of focus on signs. The nature of wishlessness, the third door to liberation, is the nature of being without suffering and ignorance, because when one truly observes and contemplates the nature of conditioned phenomena with wisdom, one does not wish for them, since conditioned phenomena are of the nature of suffering. Among these, the two aspects of selflessness are the aspects of emptiness. Because the signs of elaboration such as form are close to pacification, nirvana is the aspect of signlessness. The contaminated phenomena encompassed by the two truths of suffering and origin are the aspects of wishlessness. These three objects are called worldly samadhi, samadhi of emptiness, etc., and are focused upon with these.
