If you, like the venerable Nagarjuna, consider the conventional truth of knowables to be in accordance with dependent origination, then you will have a great contradiction. Like this, the ultimate truth is not true in the conventional truth, because the ultimate truth is not true in the ultimate truth. If you think there is no pervasion, then as Nagarjuna and Chandrakirti say, the knowable is in accordance with dependent origination, and in the way of subsequent expression, there is pervasion. If it is not true ultimately, then it must also be untrue conventionally. If it is true conventionally, then it must also be true ultimately. Because this reasoning of other-renowned terms is the supreme and unsurpassed Dharma that surpasses the Svatantrika school. Furthermore, the object of negation of the sign is not in the knowable, so it is the emptiness of emptiness, the Dharma-nature. For the knowable dharmas from form to omniscience, the Dharma-nature of emptiness that follows is inseparable from the nature of form, etc., that is not the case. That is because it is the emptiness of emptiness that is empty of things that are truly established that are not in the knowable. Because it is not the emptiness of emptiness that is empty of things that are established as self-nature truly existing in each of the knowables. If the latter sign is not established, then the self to be negated is established in the knowable. Because you have admitted the emptiness of emptiness that is empty of things that are established as self-nature truly existing in each of the knowables. Furthermore, you do not have pervasion, because the self-nature truly existing in each of the knowable things is not the self to be negated of the sign that exists in each of the knowables. Because it is impossible for such a knowable thing to exist as a truly established thing. If you think so, alas! We think that if we analyze the things that are nominally imputed and truly established, then neither the knowable nor the non-knowable can be established (336a). However, if we do not analyze, then the knowable things that are imputed by the innate consciousness of the world, each grasps and considers itself to be self-nature truly existing. Moreover, you think that it is established by the measure of terms, and is not harmed by the measure of reason, so it is not the object of negation of the sign. If you admit that all the dharmas of the basis of emptiness from form to omniscience are not empty because they remain as remainder, then what can I do? If that is the case.

However, for you, it will become like this: Just as you say in the world that the conventional truth of the nature of grasping and being grasped, which is established by valid cognition of terms, as a phenomenon, you should admit it as emptiness, that is, emptiness devoid of self-nature, because even if it is not empty by itself, you say it is emptiness. If you admit, then the conventional truth of the nature of grasping and being grasped, that is, the phenomena that are not empty by themselves, will become selflessness, unreality, and emptiness, because you admit it. In that case, in reality, the emptiness devoid of self-nature, which refutes self-nature in all phenomena, will not be established, because that kind of self-nature is selflessness and unreality. If you admit it in that way, you will be in the position of saying, "I am selflessness, and real establishment is unreality," like some people who are now called great practitioners. Therefore, the emptiness that you desire should not be the nature of phenomena that is inseparable from all phenomena such as form, etc. Even though many of you (336b) pretend to dislike it, it seems that you only like this from the bottom of your heart: After the truth of the refutation of the sign is well refuted, you still do not want to deny that persons, aggregates, etc., are true in themselves in terms of function, and that things, their observation, and attachment are real clinging, so you do not refute them. What will happen from that? When you realize that strange emptiness of yours, you will change from the emptiness system of the realists to the emptiness of the Madhyamikas, because you cannot admit that persons, aggregates, etc., are true in their ability to function, and that emptiness is empty of its own nature, but instead, by fabricating something that does not exist in real knowable things, and determining that it exists, you say that emptiness that is empty of it is the supreme nectar of emptiness. The reason why this refutation is put forward is because you doubt that you have not established it, and you feel a stinging pain like a nail being hammered into your heart, which is the real thesis, because the two truths are not one in essence, so the two truths are not one, clinging to the object, for the real phenomena such as form, etc., of the conventional
