It is not any inherent existence either, because that is the pacification of inherent existence itself, just as the fire that burns wood also burns the wood, and the fire that burns the wood itself is also burned, and both the fire and the wood are reduced to ashes. Therefore, the inherent existence that is spoken of as emptiness is neither existent by its own nature nor non-existent, because in conventional truth, the artificial inherent existence is not truly established, so in ultimate truth, the non-artificial inherent existence cannot be established either. Even so, first, children (322b) think that the worldly conventional truth contradicts dependent origination and terminology, and the nature of conventional truth established by conceptual thought is merely a conventional illusion. In order to dispel the doubt that the nature of the object to be grasped, which is extremely dark with inverted clinging, is mistaken for its nature, yogis think that the worldly conventional truth conforms to the terminology of dependent origination, so the nature of conventional truth is not truly established, because the nature of form and so on is merely an unreal conventional illusion produced by causes and conditions, and it is established as the nature of emptiness in which no inherent existence is observed. Therefore, it is declared in the face of the previous conceptual imputation. In this way, the ultimate nature that is falsely clung to as inherent existence, even that is asserted as the inherent existence of the Madhyamaka own system, but it is not established there either, because if it were, it would become a Madhyamaka who establishes the thesis with illusion. If there were a nature of emptiness like a conventional illusion, then it should exist in the object and subject of the equipoise wisdom of learners and non-learners, but because there is no sight of the nature of the two truths there at all. If so, what is the contradiction that you expect? Therefore, when other children cling to non-inherent existence as inherent existence, the worldly conventional other-assertion of yogis, relying on that, declares the opposite nature, although the nature thus declared is not established as inherent existence, in order to falsely cling to it as inherent existence, thereby eliminating the need for the inherent existence established by other children, in conventional terms, it is also falsely clung to as such a nature (323n) and contemplated.

It is said to be a conventional designation, otherwise, because the nature of the two truths is not established in the slightest. It is not said to be empty, nor is it said to be non-empty, nor is it said to be two or non-two, but it is said for the sake of designation. As it is said in the Heart Sutra of Wisdom: "In reality, there is no duality, therefore it is not empty. It is not non-empty, not existent or non-existent, not unborn or non-born." And so on, the Blessed One said. Thus, if the ultimate truth is not established as emptiness, then the nature of emptiness cannot be found. In the Commentary on the Two Truths, it says: Therefore, the nature of conventional objects is only far removed from the nature of permanence and annihilation. For the ultimate, there is only no place to look. For the unborn nature, where is permanence and annihilation? Differentiating the characteristics of phenomena is differentiating the nature. Just as no one can write letters in the sky, so too, for the unborn phenomena, the same is true for the differentiation of phenomena. The treatise says: Apart from self-nature and other-nature, where else is there an object? If self-nature and other-nature exist, then the object will be established. If the object is not established, then how can the non-object be established? Thus, according to the intention of those with hidden meanings, the Madhyamikas, for the sake of taming the wrong views of sentient beings, sometimes say that self-nature exists, sometimes say that self-nature does not exist, sometimes say that it is emptiness (323b), sometimes say that it is not emptiness, sometimes say that objects exist, and sometimes say that objects do not exist. However, the Madhyamikas themselves do not establish anything about the two truths, such as the elaboration of existence or non-existence of self-nature, and the rule of not making promises has never been violated, and because they do not take sides, there is no contradiction in their own system. The teacher Aryadeva said: Saying existence and non-existence and existence-non-existence, and not both, is it not that everything becomes medicine because of illness? It is true that it is temporarily beneficial to others, and because it is not beneficial, the other is false. Saying existence and non-existence and existence-non-existence, there is no partiality towards any side. For this, even after a long time, no fault can be spoken. Like this. Therefore, the Prasangikas
