Through the analysis of establishing, for worldly people who do not speak of dependent arising, establishing inherent existence, examining its unreasonableness, in order to speak without contradicting the conventional world of dependent arising. Thus established, the two truths of dependent arising and the worldly terms of samsara and nirvana (321a) will not be cut off in the presence of those who have not examined. Therefore, when the Madhyamikas say that all phenomena are emptiness, one should not be alarmed and hateful, saying that all things are said to be completely non-existent. Therefore, it is in terms of the emptiness of the inherent nature of all phenomena. The Blessed One extensively said, whether the Tathagatas appear or not, the Dharma-nature of phenomena is abiding. Therefore, it is said that "Dharma-nature" exists. Dharma-nature is the inherent nature of these eyes and so on. That inherent nature is uncreated, not dependent on others, is the self-nature realized by wisdom free from ignorance, and is the ultimate truth. If you ask: How does it exist? Is it asked from the perspective of analysis or the vision of the noble ones? Or is it asked from the perspective of those who speak of the conventional world of dependent arising without analysis? If it is the former, how can one answer from the realm beyond words and thoughts? If it is the latter, who has said that it does not exist? No one has said it. If it is said that it does not exist, why should Bodhisattvas not practice the path of Paramitas? Because the Dharma-nature, the inherent nature of phenomena, is not emptiness. It is not so, but the Dharma-nature of all phenomena is emptiness, and in order to realize it, Bodhisattvas undertake hundreds of thousands of hardships. Therefore, in the Holy Cloud of Jewels Sutra, it is said: Son of the lineage, the ultimate truth is unborn, unceasing, indestructible, uncoming, ungoing, not to be expressed by letters, (321b) not to be fully explained by letters, and not to be realized by elaboration. Son of the lineage, the ultimate truth is inexpressible and peaceful, to be known individually by the noble ones themselves. Son of the lineage, for the ultimate truth, whether the Tathagatas appear or not. What for do Bodhisattvas

And having shaved off his beard and hair, and having put on the saffron robes, with genuine faith, he goes forth from home to homelessness. And having gone forth, in order to attain that Dharma, he strives like one whose hair or clothes are on fire, and abides without any destruction. Son of good family, if the ultimate were not to exist, then the practice of celibacy would become meaningless, and the appearance of the Tathagatas would also become meaningless. Because that ultimate exists, therefore the Bodhisattvas are called those who are skilled in the ultimate. Thus it is said. Furthermore, if one thinks that it is contradictory to not want even a little bit of the nature of things, but to want the nature of emptiness that is uncreated and independent, then that way of thinking is not understanding the meaning of the Madhyamaka treatises. If things like the eye are self-existent as apprehended by children, then even perverse knowledge would realize it, and the practice of celibacy would become meaningless. Because it is not self-existent, the practice of celibacy becomes meaningful. The master Chandrakirti also said that the non-self-existence of things like the eye, empty of their own essence, is itself the nature, which is not established by the reasoning established by the Madhyamaka school itself (322a). However, as other schools that speak of dependent origination as conventional truth observe, emptiness that is uncreated and independent of others is said to be the nature of all dharmas. The nature seen by children is an artificial nature, so relying on the uncreated nature, the true nature cannot be established. The uncreated nature is not something that can be seen by children, so with this reasoning, other schools that contradict the conventional truth that speak of dependent origination are refuted. Merely other schools that speak of dependent origination as conventional truth, in name, because it is necessary to explain to others that emptiness without self-existence is self-existence, if there is concern that attachment will arise again, then when that self-existence itself is examined with the reasoning of other schools that speak of dependent origination as conventional truth, the nature of emptiness, that ultimate truth itself, is also the nature of things and non-things.
