Just like "the continuum is the person." Some say that there is a fault in asserting that the Buddha is not a person, which is unreasonable, because in their view, mirror-like wisdom is the continuum of the Alaya consciousness. Some Mind-Only proponents also believe that relying on the Dharmadhatu Parinispanna, which is empty of other-powered and completely conceptualized natures, one can also impute a self onto it, as it says in the Madhyantavibhāga: "The Dharmadhatu has three aspects: impure, impure-pure, and pure. One should combine various purities appropriately. From this, according to what is suitable, one should establish the person." And in the Dharma and Dharmata Vibhaga it says: "Entering into faults refers to the four faults of not having a basis for transformation, namely, the fault of not having a basis for non-arising of afflictions, the fault of not having a basis for entering the path, the fault of not having a basis for imputing a person who has passed beyond sorrow, and the fault of not having a basis for imputing the distinctions of the three enlightenments. If there is a basis for transformation, then one should understand that the opposite of that is the four benefits." Because it is said that on the stainless realm of transformation, one can impute a person who has passed beyond sorrow. So they say. Others say that the Dharmadhatu, free from elaboration and emptiness, can also be referred to as the basis for self and accomplishment, as it says in the Abhisamayalankara: "The basis for accomplishment is the nature of the Dharmadhatu." Here, the Dharmadhatu is explained by the Mind-Only teachers as the non-dual wisdom of self-awareness and self-illumination, while the Madhyamikas explain it as the emptiness of self-nature purity, the basis upon which all of samsara and nirvana can arise in conventional terms, the nature free from elaboration that cannot be said to be either the same as or different from dependent origination. Secondly, in the uncommon great secret Vajrayana, the Sugatagarbha, the co-emergent stainless body and wisdom, continuously arise in the three bases, paths, and results. Taking that as the basis for imputation, one imputes the term "self." In the unexamined conventional appearance, when engaging in the activities of the Vajrayana path, merely imputing it in this way establishes it as the continuum, basis, and practitioner of all of samsara and nirvana. The pride of generation and completion stages is also placed on this, and when engaging in the yoga of generation and completion stages, the impure and deluded part

Since all phenomena do not exist even in worldly conventions, one should practice emptiness. Only in name, emptiness as dependent arising is reasonable, in order to generate pride of "I" and "mine" towards the Tathagatagarbha wisdom vajra itself, which is completely pure and stainless from other illusions. As it is said: The speaker is I, the Dharma is also I, The listener who possesses his own retinue is I, The world and the transcendent world are I, The world teacher and the object to be attained are I. And also: From me, the three places also arise, I pervade all of this, I have not seen the other nature of beings, The constant nature is blissful. (301a) The beginningless and unelaborated self, Suchness self, the pure self. And also: Sentient beings are indeed Buddhas. Because for the Tathagatagarbha that all sentient beings possess, the name of the Buddha, the noble one, is established, this is established from the perspective of the individual. Considering this meaning, in the Kalachakra, the designation of "great sentient being" is also made. Starting from this individual, the all-pervading lord, the first protector Vajradhara, etc., as well as the cause-time Heruka, Vajrasattva, the first Buddha, etc., the Tathagatagarbha with defilements is a sentient being of the base-path time. The noble yogis also skillfully establish with the vast Dharma eye, because it cannot be established by refuting with Dharma-conforming debate. This meaning is hinted at in a hidden way in the supreme Madhyamaka school that reveals the definitive meaning of the sutras. From the presence of the noble Maitreya and Nagarjuna: Impure, impure, pure, And extremely pure are respectively, Sentient beings, Bodhisattvas, And Thus Gone Ones, it is said. And also: When covered by the net of afflictions, It is called a sentient being, When that one is free from afflictions, It is called a Buddha. Etc., the meaning that appears from countless sutras, tantras, and treatises is explained extensively in my "One Meaning" etc., understand it there. Here, Bodong Chokley Nam(301b) gyal says: The Tathagatagarbha spoken of in the secret mantra is called a bindu with three qualities of clarity and indestructibility, not only has this not been examined, but even when examined, it is I, and extremely
