Refuting the self posited by the outer and inner schools of faith: Because the statement "only viewing the aggregates as self" indicates that they do not see the self apart from the aggregates. Refuting the self posited in reliance on conventional truth, and even for unexamined conventional truth, without reversing it, the object of the view of self is the aggregates. Therefore, the Bhagavan also said that the view of self is the view of the perishable collection. From this, it is known that this refutes the self that is other than the aggregates, because other sutras say, "Form is not self," and so on. The second point is: Because form, feeling, are not self, nor is perception, formations are not self, nor is consciousness. Because it is said in other sutras that they are not self, therefore, the sutra's statement that the aggregates are self is not accepted as such. The meaning of the sutra stated earlier is to refute the self that is other than the aggregates, not to assert that the aggregates are the self. Because other sutras, accepted by the Hearers, say that form and feeling are not self, nor is perception self, nor are formations self, nor is consciousness self. The meaning of this is that the former sutra, in unexamined conventional truth, shows the self imputed in dependence on the aggregates as the object of the grasping of the view of the perishable, thereby refuting the self that is distinct from the aggregates. The latter sutra, when examined and thought to be the same, refutes that form, etc., are also self, thereby explaining that the self imputed in dependence is not the object of the view of the perishable, nor is it born from the aggregates as the proximate cause of the self. If the aggregates are not the proximate cause of the self, then the self, as its result, is also not taken as the proximate cause, so the self would also become separate from form, etc. The meaning of this text is wrongly stated by the Great Black Horse Armor. In his commentary on the Entrance, he says: Therefore, I will give you the essential instruction: The two, revered by many of our own school, who believe that the self is the aggregates themselves, and who believe that the self is inexpressible, are the schools that believe in substantial existence. And from the Kashmiri Vaibhashikas to the Svatantrikas, they believe that the aggregates are the basis of imputation of the self, and that the self is nominally existent. The Prasangikas believe that the aggregates are the cause for imputing the self, but not the basis of imputation or the entity of the self.

It is written that "there are three differences" and establishing it in that way, when explaining the treatises of the Prasangika school, if one says that this has contributed to the teachings of the glorious Sakya school (289a), and speaks with an arrogant tone. Among the three ways, the first way is that the Sthavira Nikaya's sub-school believes that one cannot say that the person and the aggregates are one, therefore, they do not consider the person to be real at all. The Mahasanghika, whether they think so or not, whatever the sect, they have said so, so it belongs to this. The second way is acceptable, but if one says that the third way also says so, then this is more harmful to the teachings of the glorious Sakya school than the collapse of the Hor king's laws. Because in upholding the tenets of the Madhyamaka free from extremes, that is, the views of Master Nagarjuna and Chandrakirti, these ways have been refuted. Because in that way, the aggregates such as form are considered to be the characteristics of the person, that is, the essence, and it is believed that the aggregates are the proximate cause of the person, and the person is the proximate result, which has been refuted by infinite reasoning, if one thinks it is not established. Then, even if one does not have the faith, diligence, and wisdom to extensively read the Madhyamaka scriptures, please read in detail once the commentary on the verse "Why is form not me", etc. Regarding this, the commentary on the Engaging in the Bodhisattva Deeds says: "As it is said, when rejecting the self in form, etc., one also rejects the object of pride that takes the aggregates as the object of the view of the perishable collection, one should think in this way, because it is the time of correct thinking. Because there is no taker, there is also nothing to take, therefore, one should also be free from attachment to form, etc." The meaning of this, be sure to study and understand the meaning of the words of the root verse and commentary of the Engaging in the Bodhisattva Deeds. If one says that the aggregates are the cause of the person in the uncommon tenets of the Prasangika, then this statement will surely be abandoned. If you explain in the tenets of the Prasangika that the aggregates are the cause of the person, then use the teachings of the Engaging in the Bodhisattva Deeds to let all the black horse riders, felt-clad people, and instrument-carrying people in U-Tsang, Kham, and Ngari go and look for grain, Emaho! Thus it is said. Second, refuting that the collection is the person.
