In terms of conventional language, it is merely based on the aggregates and designated, and there is no difference in considering that it is merely designated by negating the established self-substance. There is not even the slightest contradiction in making that innate clinging to the established self-substance the object of negation in reasoning. Apart from that, how could it be said that the view of self between the "I" and "mine" that take the self and the person established from their own side as objects is the view of self? Even so, the Vaibhashikas assert that the nominally existent self exists upon examination, and they consider it to be the nature of nominally existent things. However, the Prasangikas do not consider it to exist upon examination, and in unexamined conventional language, they do not consider it to exist as the nature of such nominally existent things. The Vaibhashikas assert that the selflessness of a person that is empty of the self of a person (Tibetan: གང་ཟག་གི་བདག་, Sanskrit Devanagari: , Sanskrit Romanization: , Literal Chinese meaning: ) is a real entity of the knowable object of the truth of suffering. However, the Prasangikas say that such selflessness and emptiness are devoid of all characteristics such as knowable and unknowable, real and unreal, substance and designation. In short, the Prasangikas explain the meaning of the unexamined, relative self as being without inherent existence in both truths as the meaning of such a self being empty of its own essence, rather than establishing whether or not it is empty of inherent existence based on whether or not it is established from its own side in the way of abiding of the object, as the Gelugpas do. Because the assertion that all phenomena arise and are established from their own side from the object's own nature is merely the statement of the Charvakas who speak of nature as the cause, and apart from that, clinging to such a true entity is not something that exists in either the self or other schools' tenets or in the innate mind of the world, therefore, apart from the statement of the Charvakas who speak of nature as the cause, all sentient beings would effortlessly be liberated. In short, Shar Tsongkhapa the Great said that in the Prasangika system, when speaking of the selflessness of a person, it is not that the self clung to by the innate is not the object to be negated as the basis of cause and effect, because if there were such a self, then the wisdom that realizes selflessness would not enter into the reality of the object, and the innate way of clinging to the self would not be mistaken in meaning, and one would also contradict oneself by saying that all phenomena are without self (༢༧༧བ).

If it is said that the Buddha taught that all phenomena are without self, then that becomes a lie. We who pride ourselves on being able to distinguish between what to take and what to abandon, even if we do not analyze the object of innate self-grasping, it exists as the basis of karma and its results in the same way as the grasping. Even if we analyze it, it is not the self that is refuted by the scriptures and reasoning of all three vehicles. If it is not, then what reason is there to think that it is not to be abandoned? In all the oceans of scriptures of the three vehicles, not a single letter has ever been said about a designation of an object of refutation with a sign other than that self. Because all noble beings have not even heard of such a thing. The pervasiveness of the sign is established by valid cognition, and there is no way to deny it. In that case, if such a self also exists in the continuum of the Buddha, and there is no other antidote, then the Buddha would become someone with self-view and view of the aggregates. If that is also admitted, then the perfect Buddha would not be liberated from samsara, because they have the view of the aggregates. Who would trust that such a consequentialist Madhyamika who speaks in this way is a Madhyamika? If he is not worthy of trust, then the fourfold distinctions of is and is not with regard to the view of the aggregates and the view of the self of a person, in the oceans of scriptures of the past three vehicles of the teachings and treatises, the terminology and the setting of boundaries are inexhaustible and immeasurable. Because it will never happen, who would be amazed at those self-made statements? If one is amazed, then one should also calculate the fourfold distinctions of is and is not, like with food and dough, because that should be regarded as a unique view of the consequentialists. For example, barley tsampa is food, but it is not wheat dough, and so on. If one says that, what is the point? If, when explaining, debating, and writing about the treatises of the Buddhas and great Bodhisattvas, and when hearing, thinking, and meditating, one is distracted by meaningless empty talk that does not lead to the determination of the cause of liberation, then does that not become the work of a demon? The meaning of the newly established terminology of those fourfold distinctions that you think is also extremely mistaken. The mind that grasps my eye, ear, etc. as being self-established, is that, after dividing the knowable into phenomena and persons, a mind that grasps phenomena as true? Or is it a mind that grasps persons as true? If it is the latter, then that is the person's
