Because of not contemplating the meaning of selflessness, even now, as it appears, there are naked renunciates, or non-Buddhists, who show white cloth or gray cloth, etc., as the agent of the aggregates. Second, there are three: a summary statement, a detailed explanation, and a conclusion. First: Just as the Buddha is named by expanding on that very nature, Similarly, in the world where mind is primary, The sutra says "only mind," but to negate form here Is not the meaning of the sutra. The word "only" negates the agent, but it does not completely negate the existence of an external object of knowledge. This is what is being shown. Just as the Buddha is named by expanding wisdom on that very nature, omitting the preceding words, similarly, in the world where mind is primary, by negating that form and other things are primary, it is omitted. The sutra says that the agent of the three realms is only mind, but it is not that there is only mind and that form does not exist here. To negate that is not the meaning of the sutra. (240b) Second, there are three: If it is true that mind is without form, it contradicts the sutra; the reason why mind is primary; the reason why form is not primary. First: If you know that these are only mind, And from that, you negate form itself, Then again, from that, the Great Self, Why do you say that mind is born from ignorance and action? This is showing that the meaning of the sutra should be spoken like me, a Madhyamika. Like you, if you know that these three realms are only mind, and that mind is a dharma that is truly established in ultimate reality, and from that, in the Ten Bhumi Sutra, you negate form itself, then again, from that sutra, why would the Great Self, the fully enlightened Buddha, say that consciousness arises from ignorance, delusion, and the action of karma? It is illogical, because if consciousness is established in ultimate reality by its own nature, then it does not depend on the causes and conditions of ignorance and action. Therefore, mind does not exist by its own nature, because it follows the presence or absence of the reversed conditions of ignorance and action, etc. Just as the appearance of hair follows the presence or absence of cataracts. Therefore, in the Ten Bhumi Sutra, the arising of consciousness from ignorance and action is as follows:
