It is merely said that, because I do not think that the consciousness that previously experienced the object and the subsequent consciousness of recollection are different entities. If they are not causal things such as the entity of self and the entity of other, then even without examining the previous experience and subsequent recollection, etc., it is not possible to establish dependent causation. Without examination, the worldly consequential expression is like that. Because the world merely sows a seed and says, "I have produced this son," and also thinks that a tree has been planted, therefore, there is nothing in the world that arises from another. This is what the text says. Many Tibetan commentators on the Bodhisattvacaryāvatāra, such as Geshe, believe that according to Acharya Chandrakirti's view, this treatise establishes that in conventional truth, the self-school has self-awareness. Similarly, this school does not negate the alaya-consciousness, self-awareness, external objects, and persons in conventional truth, but rather negates the alaya-consciousness, etc., that can be established through analysis. Saying this is actually digging one's own grave, because the name "self-awareness" in this treatise, which is famous in sutra-based treatises, is not commonly used in the world. Therefore, worldly people have not used this term either. However, worldly people will use conventional terms to express what the name "self-awareness" refers to, which is the mere experience of consciousness as the basis, and the subsequent recollection. Therefore, if the Madhyamikas use the worldly conventional terms of recollection and experience without examination, then, by saying so, it is established in the conventional terms of their own school. Because it is not necessary to establish it in this way. If it is established in this way in conventional truth, it will fall into analysis, and this school does not recognize the dharma established through analysis in both truths. Moreover, this school does not establish any self-school, and in order to make worldly conventions, the alaya-consciousness, the subtle particles of external objects, and self-awareness are not established. Therefore, establishing them in this way for the sake of worldly conventions is meaningless even in the world. In particular, the Prasangikas believe that if they analyze the alaya-consciousness and self-consciousness as the object of self, as well as the indivisible and divisible component particles, they cannot be tolerated in both truths, so they are not needed.

Not only is it unreasonable, but also as the basis of worldly terms, since these are not recognized as established in the world, therefore, without examining these, they do not exist even in worldly terms, because it has been determined that this is extremely unreasonable. It is not that self-awareness and ālaya-vijñāna are not refuted in terms, but they are established. If it is refuted that they are established in the ultimate sense, then it should not be necessary to specifically distinguish between ālaya-vijñāna and self-awareness and only make such refutations. Because for everything that is the basis of the terms of objects, such as pillars and pots, it must be done in this way. If it is thought that doing so to ālaya-vijñāna and self-awareness does not extend to doing so to objects such as pillars and pots, that is unreasonable. Because the Prāsaṅgikas clearly explain that since worldly people do not regard ālaya-vijñāna and self-awareness as the basis of terms, they do not establish them even when they do not examine them in terms. Only karma and its effects, and experience and memory can be the basis of terms, therefore, without examining these terms, these terms are established in the world. Whichever person, if they are conventionally designated by the innate wisdom of the world without examination, then it is said that they are not refuted at the time of non-examination. Moreover, not only for persons, but for all dharmas, it is applied in this way. If it is not like that, if the Svātantrika-Madhyamikas establish by their own system (230n) that the object of a person exists in terms, and also establish by their own system that it does not exist in the ultimate sense, then what is more realistic than such a Madhyamika who establishes this? Because the object that was previously in terms, later at the time of the ultimate sense, is established as emptiness and non-existence, therefore it becomes the destroyer of empty objects, and furthermore, in one place it establishes that the nature of the object exists, and in another place it establishes that the nature of the object does not exist, therefore, while admitting the object, it also slanders the object, becoming a self-contradictory arguer, and also the worst of the realists among the realists. Therefore, who entrusted the task of making commentaries on the Prāsaṅgika-Madhyamika treatises, which hold such bad systems and are difficult to understand? In particular, if it is said that Master Candrakīrti strives to establish self-awareness in terms, then this is saying that the intention of this treatise that is being explained does not correspond to reality. Because here, starting from the aspect of emptiness, whatever is refuted, in whichever case of the two truths,
