So. Therefore, it is said to be limitless. If you ask: In the Madhyāntavibhāga, it says, "The ultimate truth is only one." Does it contradict the statement that other-powered and completely imputed natures are not established as ultimate truth? Answer: This shows that the object of the practice of noble wisdom is not the ultimate truth, but it does not show that it is not the ultimate truth that can withstand rational investigation, as the noble Asanga said: The four are name, reason, realization, and the ultimate truth of the ultimate truth. Therefore, the completely imputed exists only in name, but not in substance. The other-powered can withstand rational investigation, so (225b) it has the nature of ultimate truth, but it is not the object of the transcendental meditative non-conceptual wisdom. The establishment of the object of the perfected nature is the tenet of the Mind-Only school. Those who say that the completely imputed does not exist only in name, and that the other-powered is not the ultimate truth, and that the perfected nature does not exist in substance, are definitely not the tenets of the Mind-Only school, as it is well explained. Here, Zilung Chokdenpa says: The Yogācāra school does not explain the other-powered as unreal. What he says is unreasonable. In the Dharmatā-vibhāga, it says: Thus, from focusing on that, one enters into focusing on only consciousness. From focusing on only consciousness, one enters into not focusing on all objects. From not focusing on all objects, one enters into not focusing on only consciousness. From not focusing on that, one enters into focusing on the absence of difference between the two. And Dignāga said: The examples of illusion and so on show the other-powered nature. Therefore, although it is established that the other-powered consciousness is unreal, and it is said that conventional truth is true, it is said that the wisdom itself, which is the self-nature of the perfected nature, is the ultimate truth. To say so is just a pathetic attempt to send the Mind-Only school to the Madhyamaka school. Because those scriptures do not accomplish that. The first scripture explains how the Mind-Only school makes the perfected nature, which is empty of the two, grasper and grasped, the object of the transcendental meditative non-conceptual wisdom (226a). At that time, that meditative non-conceptual wisdom is also considered by that school to be consciousness and other-powered nature, so it is of no benefit to your assertion.

There is not even a little. The second argument is that the dependent nature of other-powered cognition itself, due to the power of habit, becomes the nature of unreal conceptualization. Like an illusion that appears to exist when it does not, it is said to be the basis for the conceptualization of the grasper and the grasped. Such unreal conceptualization of other-powered cognition, like illusory horses and cattle, is the deceptive part that is confused about the grasper and the grasped of the conceptualized, and is the conventional truth. However, the nature of other-powered cognition itself is not confused by the imputation of illusion, and is therefore established as the ultimate truth. As it says in the Ornament of the Sutras: 'Like an illusion, it is said to be unreal conceptualization. Like the appearance of an illusion, it is said to be confused about the two. As there is no this in that, so it is the ultimate truth. As that is the object, so it is the conventional truth.' For this reason, your assertion is of no help at all. Therefore, although there is an appearance of the unreality of the grasper and the grasped like an illusion on the truly established other-powered cognition, the other-powered cognition itself does not exist as the nature of such conventional appearance. As it says in the Ornament of the Sutras: 'Thus it exists in that, it does not exist as its substance. Thus, in illusions and so on, it is said to be existence and non-existence.' (226b) For this reason, the Mind-Only school believes that, in terms of the nature of things, the characteristic of the perfectly established Dharmadhatu is not different from the nature of other-powered cognition, so it is only a waste of effort to say that the other-powered is established as unreal by the practice of yoga. For that cognition, it is fine to give it the name of either consciousness or wisdom. Because they believe that the mere momentary clear and aware experience is established as ultimately true without being harmed by any reason, and is established by it. Because there is no perfectly established nature different from the other-powered, when Holy Liberation expresses the intention of the yogic practitioner, he says: 'Whatever Dharmadhatu is extremely pure, the non-dual wisdom itself is the object, so think of the views of those.' And in the commentary on the Condensed Meaning of the Eight Thousand Verses, which quotes the treatise of the Yogic Practice school, it says: 'Emptiness is called consciousness, there is nothing else, why is there no difference from emptiness?'
