also not different from consciousness. Therefore, the Mind-Only School believes that all the external objects such as form spoken by the Blessed One (216a) are provisional, and the definitive meaning is that the power of the habit of clinging to form etc. ripens, and like light arising from a lamp, consciousness itself appears in the form of external objects of the senses, and it is considered the origin of the objects of the senses, which is not contradictory to the explanation of the nature of aggregates, elements, and sources, and it is also the basis of emptiness of inner and outer emptiness. Therefore, the cessation of form etc. is the cessation of form etc. that are imputed externally, but not the form etc. of imputation and nature. The sutra says that there are three forms from form to omniscience: the completely imputed, the imputed, and the nature. That's what they think. Third: In dreams, there are no other objects of form. Mind is of that nature from the ripening of its own power. Just as it arises, so it is here when awake. If you say that the mind exists without external objects, then here too, in the state of being awake, there is mind consciousness without external objects. For example, in dreams, there are no other objects of form etc., but from the ripening of the power that is in accordance with oneself, the mind of mind arises with the nature of that object of form etc., just like that. Second, there are two: having harm and not having proof. First, if consciousness arises from power, then the blind should also have eye consciousness, and in dreams, the presence or absence of object sense is the same. First: Just as without eyes, in dreams, the mind of mind that appears as blue etc. arises, so without the sense of sight, from the ripening of one's own seed, why does it not arise here to the blind? Just as without eyes and form, in dreams, from the ripening of one's own habit, the mind of mind that appears in the object of blue etc. arises similar to eye consciousness, then, (216b) when awake, just like not being blind, from the ripening of one's own seed, when awake, why does the mind of mind that grasps blue in that way not arise here? Because both sleep and blindness are the same without the sense of sight. Second, if analyzed, power in dreams is unreasonable, and if not analyzed, there are also eyes. First, the nature of power

Two kinds of refutations and illogicalities. The first is: If, according to your view, the sixth consciousness matures in dreams, but does not exist when awake, then how can the maturity of the sixth consciousness not exist here? In that case, why can't it be said that dreams do not exist? Is it that the cause of such a consciousness, like blue, exists even without an external object, because such a consciousness arises from the maturation of ability? If it is thought that it only exists in dreams because of sleep, but not when awake, then it is unreasonable. If, according to your view, there is the ability for the sixth consciousness to mature in dreams, but it does not exist when awake, so there is no fault as mentioned above, then according to our view, it can be said that why can't it be said that there is no such image-possessing consciousness in dreams? Because it is logical. The ability for the sixth consciousness to mature is the same as when a blind person does not have this ability when awake. The second is: Just as not having eyes is not the cause of this blind person, sleep is not the cause of dreams either. Just as not having eyes when awake is not the cause of the maturation of the ability of consciousness to appear blue, etc. in the continuum of this blind person, sleep in dreams is not the cause of the maturation of the ability of consciousness, because both are equally without eyes. The second is: Therefore, in dreams, it must also be admitted that the real eye and the false object are the cause of cognition. As mentioned earlier, therefore, in dreams, the real (217a) eye of that object-possessing consciousness, and the false object-possessing root on which that consciousness relies, must be considered the cause of cognizing the object, because without eyes and other roots, one would not see the object's form, sound, etc. The second point, there are two kinds of arguments without reason and scripture. The first is: Whatever is answered with this, and whatever is answered, because seeing that and that vow are the same, this dispute can be eliminated. The Madhyamaka school believes that the object, root, and consciousness of the waking state are all empty of self-nature, because they are objects of focus, just like dreams. To this, the opponent believes that the consciousness of the waking state is empty of meaning, because it is consciousness, just like the consciousness in dreams. And, the object of focus in the waking state
