Two kinds of unreasonableness. First, the undifferentiated having difference is unreasonable, as well as the refutation of the answer to this, and the three that are not established by dependence. First: Without difference, it is impossible to have difference. The son of a barren woman should also have it. Also, the so-called "ability to know," knowing is the difference, and the ability is the basis of the difference. At this time, the difference result, the future consciousness does not exist, then the ability to differentiate with it does not exist, because without grasping the difference, the idea of the basis of the difference will not arise. Just as a person does not grasp a stick, the idea of having a stick will not arise. If it is thought that the unproduced consciousness has the ability, then the son of a barren woman should also have the ability, because it is the same as being unproduced. Second: If you want to name it by what will be produced, without ability, there will be no production of this. If you consider the future consciousness that arises from ability, and think that this is the ability of this consciousness, because this arises from this, it can be used as a difference to name the basis of the difference, such as cooking rice, weaving cloth with this thread. However, this is also not possible. If there is ability, then the future consciousness arising from that ability will become the object of consciousness, because there is no future consciousness, so there is no ability to differentiate with it. Therefore, like the son of a barren woman, without ability, the production of this consciousness is also impossible. This also negates examples such as cooking rice. Third: The establishment of mutual dependence, the saints say, is not establishment. Also, if it is said that ability and consciousness are mutually dependent cause and effect, one cause, one interacts with each other, therefore the fruit consciousness arises from the cause ability. Then, consciousness will become without self-nature of birth and establishment. For example, long and short, this shore and the other shore, etc., like this, the establishment of mutual dependence and establishment, the saints say, is not self-nature establishment, because the saints see that the self-nature of all dharmas is emptiness. (214a) Aryadeva said: Without fruit,

Yes. The cause itself does not exist. Therefore, all results will become the cause itself. As it is said in the treatise: If anything is established by dependence, then it also depends on itself. If the object of dependence is established, then what is established by dependence? Therefore, the meaning of these quotations is: Consciousness cannot be established without the establishment of capacity, because capacity is considered to be the cause of consciousness. Capacity cannot be established without the establishment of consciousness, because capacity is distinguished by consciousness and is called the capacity of consciousness. Therefore, if both are to be established simultaneously, then neither will become the reason for establishment. If one is not established, then neither will be established. Therefore, the nature of such an established thing does not exist originally. Furthermore, any thing that is established by dependence, if it is not established, how can it depend? If it is already established, why depend on it? This is the meaning of the above quotation. If consciousness is established by depending on capacity, then does it depend on an unestablished or an established capacity? If it is the former, because it is not established, it does not depend on capacity like the horns of a donkey. If it is the latter, because it is already established, it should not depend on it. In the second case, there are two situations: the extreme case of one arising from another, and the refutation of the answer to eliminate that fault. The first is: If the transformation arises from the maturation of the ceased capacity, then another will arise from the capacity of another. Those who are constant are mutually different there. Therefore, everything will arise from everything. Now, there is no capacity in the past. If the consciousness that arises and ceases sets the difference of capacity on the Alaya for the sake of the fruit, then consciousness will arise from the maturation of the ceased capacity. For this, those who admit Alaya think that it arises from the present capacity, and those who do not admit Vijnanavada think that it arises from the past capacity. In this way, another consciousness will arise from the capacity of another consciousness, because consciousness is a constant that exists continuously before and after an instant, and the instants before and after are mutually different in the constant, and are acknowledged by others as others. If admitted, then it depends on others.
