Because in order to prove that, as an analogy for the emptiness of self-nature, such as dreams, illusions, and images, knowledge and objects appear together but are not truly existent, such analogies are wrong. You say that those examples are unreal, and the way objects abide from their own perspective is a truth that is established. This is a new false word that has never appeared in the teachings of the previous demonstrator (Buddha), and it is added with a very strong memory. And contemplating such a true establishment, even if you say that your own self-nature, the self-nature of things, and the self-nature of matter do not exist. But in reality, dreams, illusions, and images have a function in the correct conventional truth and are not falsely existent. Although they do not actually exist due to the confused appearance, you say that all the things that appear there are things that function like the appearance and do not deceive. Therefore, all the analogies for the profound emptiness of self-nature (p. 208) are strongly said to be inconsistent examples because they are attached to meaning. Therefore, the Blessed One and the noble Nagarjuna and others widely use one-or-other separation and other arguments from the perspective of other famous common recognitions to argue for profound emptiness. You say that all statements that have three complete ways are inverted intellect, and you laboriously explain that those arguments cannot prove the profound emptiness that is to be proven, thereby secretly denying the Dharma of profound emptiness. This situation becomes very prevalent when the era of the final five hundred years of the Dharma approaches. Third, it is divided into: the answer to refute the fault and the refutation of that answer. The first part is: If eye consciousness does not exist in sleep, then only mind consciousness exists. Its appearance is attached to external objects. If you think like a dream: If there are no external objects such as form in sleep, because sleep weakens eye consciousness and so on, it makes the sense consciousness unable to exist. However, the consciousness deluded by sleep only appears as an object, because the appearance of consciousness is attached to external objects. Just as there is no object in a dream and only consciousness exists, so it is thought here.

If so, secondly, in dreams, all eighteen realms are shown to be false, and this situation is the same as when awake. Therefore, the three points of showing the analogy and meaning to be the same, whether there is meaning or not. The first point is: Just as your external environment in a dream is not born, so too is the mind not born. The eye and the object of the eye, and the consciousness produced by it, all three are false. The remaining three, such as the ear, are also not born. Just as in your system of Vijnanavada, external forms and other objects are not born in dreams, so too is mind consciousness not born, because the reasons for their birth and non-birth are the same. Because in the illusion of dreams, both exist, but when awake, neither exists. However, when seeing form when awake, just as the eye, form, and consciousness are the three objects, so too in dreams, when completely grasping objects, the eye and the object of the eye, and the mind produced by it, all three also seem to be gathered in the appearance of illusion, but if analyzed, there is no eye and form there, and there is also no consciousness, so all three are false. Similarly, in dreams, from the ear and so on, from sound and ear consciousness, to the mind and dharma and mind consciousness, the remaining three objects, faculties, and consciousnesses are also not born, only in appearance are all the same, but if analyzed, all are empty. Therefore, since all eighteen realms are false in dreams, how can mind consciousness be established as true? When refuting Vijnanavada, here it is said that there is no consciousness without an agent and object, which is not the case, because in dreams, in the object of mind consciousness, there is form belonging to the dharma realm, but this statement is also unreasonable, because if there is no form in dreams, there cannot be form belonging to the dharma realm. If the Vijnanavadins say that there are no objects such as form that arise from external earth, water, etc., but that they arise from the Alaya consciousness in order to refute the Madhyamikas, then this is very unreasonable, because not only can it not harm others, but it will cause others to generate wrong views, because in front of others, all the ways of speaking contradict fame. Because dreams and the objects, faculties, and attention of waking are all unreal and empty.
