It is taught that it appears like a truth that does not deceive in the conventional sense. Also, regarding the meaning of the scripture that death performs two actions, "death" refers to the action of destruction by death, not the action of decay, because decay cannot perform an action. That is because the destruction by death severs the continuity of the similar kind of non-dying in the future, and it is not holding onto non-death, but rather it has done the action of changing phenomena. The very mind of death is the action of being born as the nature of ignorance that is concordant with the mental factor of ignorance. If, as you say, death has done the two actions of dying and generating ignorance, then it seems that you think of death as decay as well. If that is the case, then decay is exhausted in the meaning of death. At that time, what is said is "death," but in reality it has become "dead," and if the dead does the action of dying, then there is a contradiction of the agent and the action to oneself by oneself. If decay dies again, that is, if decay makes decay decay, then it will become non-decaying, or, the substantial continuity of that decaying thing that you desire will be severed, so thinking of decay as a real thing will instead become a destroyer. (194b) In the scripture that considers decay as a real thing, it says, "Real and unreal are compounded." Explaining decay as unreal as a real thing is said in this way because of a great poverty of scriptural understanding, and it is said in an extreme way. If that is the case, because there is change here, the unreal dharma should become a real thing. Nagarjuna states that both real and unreal are established as compounded in dependence on each other, so it is merely a dharma of dependent arising, and real and unreal are not established as self-existent. You, without authority, consider that real thing that performs a function to be true. In particular, the unreal of a decaying thing is precisely because it is considered a real thing. There is no choice other than to think so. If that is the case, then in conventional terms, knowable things cannot be expressed as two, real and unreal, because there is no dharma other than real things, because unreal is also acknowledged as a real thing. Also, the scripture about the exhaustion of causes speaks of the meaning of liberation being completely freed by the exhaustion of afflictions, just as when one is free from the plague, it is said that one is freed from the epidemic. That is also because being freed from the epidemic is because the epidemic has disappeared, so being freed from the disease, that real thing of the disease again
