I—known in the world, etc., for all those who take fame as a measure, fame does not harm the vision of the noble ones. The second point is: because the world merely sows a seed, and says, "I have begotten this son," and also thinks, "I planted the tree," therefore, arising from another, even in the world, is not. Even if subsequent statements are made according to the views of the world, the world does not hinder the negation of arising from another. Do not merely think that things arise from another, even in the world, there is no arising from another. Because people in the world merely sow a seed in the mother's womb, and later, when a child with male genitalia is born, they say, "I have begotten this son," and merely plant a mango seed, and later, when it grows into a large tree, they also think, "This is also what I planted," they do not regard the seed and the fruit as different things. Apart from that, taking one's own son out of the body and putting him into the womb, and when planting a tree, one does not plant a tree with lush branches (171b), therefore, in the world, cause and effect will not become one. Just like the previous reason, one will say "my son" and "I planted the tree," if it is not like that, but another begets another, there is no opportunity to indicate close relationships such as "my son." Second part: Explains the merit of dependent arising being established without permanence or annihilation, and the fault of becoming a slander of emptiness if self-nature is established. The first point is: Because the sprout is not other than the seed, therefore, when the sprout exists, the seed does not perish. Because it is not one, therefore, when the sprout exists, one cannot say that the seed exists. Here, if the seed and the sprout become other, then, when the sprout arises, the seed will be cut off, because it is other. Just like there is a cow, even if the cow dies, the calf will not be cut off, just like there is rebirth, the noble one will not not enter Nirvana. Therefore, when the sprout arises, the seed does not perish and is not cut off, because the sprout is not other than the seed, therefore, in this way, annihilation is avoided. When the sprout exists, one cannot say that the seed exists, because the seed and the sprout do not exist as one, therefore, in this way

It has been abandoned. As it is said: If there is a seed, then like a sprout. What is the seed is not the nature of the sprout. It is neither different from it, nor is it the same, thus it is neither permanent nor interrupted, it is the nature of Dharma. Thus, the earth and sprout are not different, because if there is a seed, a sprout will arise; whatever is the seed, the sprout will not change either, because the aspects of that, other, and both are impossible. Because the two are neither one nor different. The arising and ceasing of earth and sprout in dependence is separated from the permanence of constant occurrence and the annihilation of never (172a) occurring. Therefore, if earth and sprouts have self-nature, there is no other form than the self-nature of one and different, but because it does not exist, the relationship between earth and sprout is merely a fabrication due to the nature of no self-nature. Like the earth and sprout in a dream, how can there be a change of one and other? For this reason, the sutra says: All conditioned things are conditioned by ignorance. Those conditioned things are not in themselves. These two, conditioned things and ignorance, are empty, and by nature are free from movement. And the treatise also says: Whatever arises depending on what, that is temporarily not the same as that, nor is it other than that, therefore it is neither permanent nor interrupted. Arya Deva says: Because things enter into destruction, therefore they do not become annihilation, and because things revert and change, therefore they do not become permanent. Second, if self-nature changes in dependence, then because of denying it, things will be destroyed. If emptiness becomes the cause of the destruction of things, then this is not reasonable, therefore things are not real. Therefore, it must be undoubtedly admitted that no thing is born by its own nature. If it is not so, if all the dharmas from form to omniscience are not merely fabricated, but arise or are born according to their own nature, that is, according to the cause and condition of their own entity, then emptiness will become the cause of the destruction of things, because it says that the inherent self-nature of things does not exist. When yogis see emptiness, they deny that things are born according to their own nature, therefore things will be destroyed, just like a hammer smashing a vase (172b).
