The proponents assert that, through argumentation, speech is made devoid of a self that possesses true nature, and that phenomena are made devoid of self-nature, becoming things that have the function of action. Ultimately, for this knowable, all phenomena based on the two truths are argued to be deceptive objects of desire. Because the nature of things is emptiness, it is impossible to establish them through this profound way of emptiness, thereby negating this point. Therefore, starting from the two truths, including the non-conceptual and conceptual appearances of elaboration that are within the scope of a child's mind, these self-established things are considered to be real and functional, which is the view of the great scholar Nagarjuna. They emphasize this (170a) and proclaim. For this purpose, you establish it through many strange discourses that have been well explained by Manjushri and never heard before among the Madhyamikas of the world. Even so, they do not think it can be established. Because this system is not the system of any internal or external school, and it also contradicts worldly terminology. For example, although blue, yellow, people, horses, cattle, animals, mountains, forests, rivers, etc., appear in the mirror to the root consciousness, they are not called those things. The existence of non-true deceptive existence and establishment, etc., is an effective existence. And the non-existence and non-establishment, etc., of non-deceptive and false true certainty are not effective non-existence. They dare not openly proclaim this by virtue of the authority of internal and external scriptures, but only establish a tenet. If they were to openly proclaim it in that way, then everyone from the wise to the shepherdess would recognize it as a self-contradictory statement, and therefore would not think that it is a system of scriptures. Because the proponents of tenets believe that the rationality of their own tenets all have a true meaning, so whatever they say about existence or non-existence, etc., non-existence, etc., is an effective non-existence. And everything that others say is a false thing that is not true, so whatever they say about existence, etc., is not an effective existence, and they establish and refute in this way. Otherwise, the proponents of tenets have no other way to establish their own tenets and refute other tenets (170b). In this case, existence, etc., with false meanings are truly existent. Non-existence, etc., with true meanings are...

If it is said that it is not a meaningful thing, then it will become admitting falsehood as truth and truth as falsehood. Speaking of the principle of truth and falsehood in this way, and admitting reason, does not occur in the discourses of any internal or external schools of thought, therefore, this view is not agreed upon, because it is unreasonable. Here it is said: With an impartial mind, for a long time, through excellent observation, the meaning that should be understood, here is unerringly declared the intention of the teacher, without relying on others. People who do not possess wisdom and talent, and foolish people who lack reason, if they inflict intolerable jealousy on the splendor of this scripture collection, which is as complete as the ocean, then the great meaning of the goodness of this life and the next will be difficult to obtain! Thus it is said. The second is: Because all worldly things are not valid cognitions, therefore, at that time, the world does not cause harm. Merely when analyzing that itself, the world does not cause harm, because the reason is that when analyzing that itself, all worldly things are not valid cognitions. Just as the view of illusion does not harm the non-erroneous view. The third is: If worldly things are negated by worldly fame, then the world will cause harm. Then, where will the harm of the world appear? If merely the fame of the world negates the things that are called in the world, then for that reason, the world will cause harm. For example, someone says that my things were stolen, and another person asks what things? That person answers that it is a vase. Then that person refutes, saying that a vase is not a thing, because it is measurable, like a vase in a dream (171a). Refuting like this will cause harm to the world, because the world considers the vase in the waking state to be real, and does not consider the vase in the dream to be real, so the example and the meaning do not match, and it does not accept detailed rational analysis. When abiding in the view of the noble ones, and taking the wise as the standard, then the world will not cause harm. The wise should apply this method to other things in this way. For example, if someone says that someone who cannot see himself cannot see others, just like a vase, the eye cannot see itself.
