Therefore, ordinary people can see it, while the noble ones cannot; the consciousnesses abide in the reality of the objects without being confused, while the samadhi wisdom of the noble ones is confused; existing without being analyzed by reason, existing in conventional truth, existing in name, existing as imputation, existing falsely, existing deceptively, existing in delusion, existing without being examined, existing before children, etc., will abide in the true meaning, and the opposites of these will not abide in the true meaning, and (167a) all phenomena are like illusion, dream, moon in water, image, cataract, echo, mirage water, bubble, water tree, like a blow to the head, lightning, cloud, rainbow, gandharva city, hair net, double moon, emanation, etc., appearing as if they exist but are not truly existent, and are not existent, thus the Buddha proclaimed. Everything is established as it appears, and is not existent. Production and cessation, permanence and annihilation, one and different, etc., that which teaches being free from all extremes of elaboration will become non-definitive. All phenomena are empty of inherent existence, unproduced and unceasing, primordially peaceful, and naturally completely liberated from suffering, etc., all the scriptures that teach being free from all elaboration and characteristics from the beginning are all definitive, with intentional meaning. Conversely, permanence and annihilation, truth and falsehood, etc., all the various teachings will become definitive, just as the literal meaning. Merely following others' assertions, dependent origination, existence and non-existence, production and cessation, going and coming, permanence and annihilation, one and different, etc., the tenet of the Madhyamaka school that is free from all extremes of elaboration is correct. The tenets of the internal and external heretical schools that adhere to existence and non-existence, permanence and annihilation, etc., are incorrect. Samsara and nirvana, what should be abandoned and what should be adopted, existence and non-existence, the three times, etc., the wisdom of the Buddha who sees all phenomena as equal without any difference between the characteristics and the nature of all phenomena (167b) is confused. The minds of those who cling to these as different are not confused, because the reason is that their own assertion is applied as the sign. Especially according to the details of your own school.

In that case, all the samādhis of the noble ones will become confused. Because, establishing the existence or non-existence of conventional truth by means of valid cognition is because that valid cognition does not see any of its existence or non-existence, etc. If one claims that valid cognition has eliminated it, and that conventional phenomena exist in general as established by valid cognition, but that phenomena established by valid cognition are understood as not established by valid cognition, then that can only be a confused consciousness. Therefore, the latter reason is accepted. The former reason is not established, because the samādhi wisdom of the noble ones is samādhi on the meaning of ultimate truth. If it is thought that it is not samādhi on the meaning of conventional truth, and therefore the phenomena of conventional truth are not established and are eliminated by valid cognition, then, when the wisdom of the noble ones is in samādhi on the ultimate, the appearance of that deceptive conventional truth should not revert. Therefore, it is established by valid cognition. The samādhi wisdom is not eliminated by valid cognition at that time. Furthermore, when the wisdom of the noble ones is in samādhi on the ultimate, it should not be necessary to rely on conventional phenomena to enter into samādhi. Because, when it is in samādhi on that, it should not, with such reasoning, focus on the basis of conventional truth established by name and concept, but rather discard that conventional (168a) like a rag, and then the wisdom of the noble ones, regarding the nature of that conventional as the non-affirming ultimate truth, intensely clings to it and thereby is in samādhi. If you accept that, then it is impossible for the wisdom of the noble ones to eliminate the deluded superimpositions on conventional phenomena and thereby realize the non-erroneous ultimate truth. Because you accept that. If you accept that, then the samādhi wisdom of the noble ones will not be able to reverse all the bonds of elaboration such as afflictions. Because it has not eliminated any deluded superimpositions on conventional phenomena. Furthermore, if you think it is not established, then it should be established. Because the valid cognition of reasoning and the valid cognition of the samādhi wisdom of the noble ones are not valid cognitions that affirm or negate the existence or non-existence of the conventional. Because you say that those are valid cognitions that engage in affirming or negating the existence or non-existence of the object to be refuted. According to your view, when the noble ones see the ultimate truth as it is, they will not see the reality of all things. Because it is first the reality of the conventional.
