It is an external cause. The cause of the mind's delusion lies in the false discriminations of external and internal heretics, etc. (155b), or in the apparent inferences based on what is established and not established by innate false discriminations. Here, some Tibetans say that the difference between Svatantrika and Prasangika lies in whether or not one's own system considers conventional truth to have a distinction between true and false. They also say that the Prasangika system also has a distinction between true and false in its own system, or that there is none in name, all of which is unreasonable. Because if there is absolutely no distinction between true and false in the appearance of the present and the appearance of dreams in the Svatantrika's own system, then it goes without saying that there is a distinction between true and false in the Prasangika's own system. If the distinction between true and false is not based on the world in name, then it contradicts the three-verse treatise, including the root and commentary. If the Svatantrika does not accept the term true and false in its own system, then it contradicts the two truths: "Although appearances are similar, there is a difference because of the ability to function and the inability to function." If someone says that the Svatantrika has made such a distinction between true and false, but that it is not the Svatantrika's own system, but is spoken as it is known in the world. In its commentary, it says: "Water and mirages are perceived by the world as true and not true. In reality, the two are only the same in being without essence." In the explanation, it says: "If there is a difference between true and not true, then things are not of their own nature." Therefore, it is said that "in reality, the two are," etc. If asked: How is the essence the same? The answer is: It is said that the essence (156a) is emptiness. If asked: Why? The answer is: Because functioning is also without essence. If it is not so, how can it be reasonable for the Svatantrikas to prove that all phenomena are without self-nature by using many false examples such as dreams and illusions? Because there is no similarity between the example and the meaning. Then, the Svatantrika believes that conventional truth is established by the measure of name in name, because they believe that the deceptive appearance of horses and cattle, etc., which are deceived by the magic mantra, is established by that consciousness. Conventional truth is also true.

If someone asks, why don't you accept that your own system is established? The Svatantrikas do not accept this, because the formulation you have proposed does not have pervasiveness. Regarding the statement "it does not have pervasiveness over it," the great Prasangika teacher Chandrakirti says: If the Svatantrikas say this, it is not only non-pervasive but also contradictory-pervasive. For example, it should not be said that the illusory conventional truth is established or should be established in name by nominal valid cognition, i.e., correct reasoning. Because you say that all phenomena of the illusory conventional do not have the nature of being truly established or ultimately established or genuinely established. In the Prasannapadā it says: Because in this way, he admits that the reason is not established by his own expression, therefore, all inferences that posit the dharma of things as the reason, all inferences that establish what is not established in oneself, such as the reason, will be completely destroyed. (156b) The text says. Regarding this, if the Svatantrikas say, since all phenomena are not truly established or ultimately established, why is it necessary to say that they are not established conventionally? The Prasangikas believe that saying so is a statement contrary to reason, because if the pervasiveness of truth or ultimate truth does not exist, then there is no truth established by valid cognition in name. Like someone with cataracts seeing hairs falling. Due to the extensive refutation of the Svatantrika view, two major schools, the Prasangika and the Svatantrika, appeared in Jambudvipa (India). I believe that the main difference between the Prasangika and Svatantrika tenets lies in this point alone. Because the Svatantrikas insist on this view, the various Svatantrika teachers measure the nominal dharma, such as the alaya-vijnana, with nominal valid cognition, some believe that it is established by valid cognition even in name, and some believe that it is not, and many different views have arisen, and the great teacher Chandrakirti mainly refutes those who believe in existence. What is the difference between the conventional falsehood that the Svatantrikas believe in and the conventional falsehood that the Prasangikas believe in? When the appearance is not examined, both exist, but when examined, neither exists. Second, agitated by the sleep of ignorance.
