Since it is said to be unspeakable, it is thought to have become other, and since it is said that it cannot be said to be other, it is thought to have become itself, but this is not the case. Just like the golden vase and silver vase in conceptualization, since they are unspeakable, they will not become other, and since they cannot be said to be other, they will not become themselves. Even so, in the minds of children, there is a mistaken conception of the two truths as being either one or different, but even with such clinging, there is no instance where the two truths have become one or different. Therefore, those with wisdom will understand that if the two truths are not one, they are not other, and if they are not other, they are not one. This is because both are phenomena established in dependence. For phenomena established in dependence, the dharma of one and other, which are the meaning of the two truths, cannot be established. Therefore, like the omniscient wisdom, it does not grasp any elaboration, and that itself, which is free from all elaborations, is called the ultimate truth, and although it has not been established as the ultimate truth, it is nominally established as the ultimate truth, and it is fabricated that it has no birth or death; like the mind of ignorance such as the view of self, it is not other than the conventional dharma, and although it has not been established as the conventional truth, it is nominally established as the conventional truth, and it is fabricated that it has birth and death. These two truths are not actually other, and considering this, the Kagyu Rinpoche says that conceptualization is the Dharmakaya, samsara and nirvana, and afflictions are wisdom. Even so, it is not to prove that the nature of conceptual Dharmakaya, samsara and nirvana, etc., which have the meaning of the two truths, are one, because by negating the otherness of conceptual Dharmakaya, etc. (148a) in meaning, it also negates that the nature is one, because if the otherness of the related objects that are merely in meaning does not exist separately, then the otherness of the related dharmas that are in meaning cannot be established as having one nature. Therefore, the negation of the otherness of conceptual Dharmakaya, etc. in meaning is like what Je Gampopa said: This co-emergent consciousness, hold it tightly as wisdom, if certainty arises, you will see it itself. This conceptualization arising from the mind, hold it tightly as ultimate truth, experience it.

If seen, then the essence is seen. This appearance of habitual patterns of investigation, Hold it tightly as the Dharmakaya. If realization is attained, then the truth is seen. Thus it is said. This appearance that has never been established, Now I know it is the Dharmakaya. Do not seek the view elsewhere. This self-mind that has never been separated, Now I know it is the Buddha. Do not seek the fruit elsewhere. This conceptual thought that is continuous, Now I know it is wisdom. Do not seek experience elsewhere. This ordinary awareness without distraction, Now I know it is meditation. Do not seek accomplishment elsewhere. Thus it is said. Before Je Gompapa Tsultrim Nyingpo: This wisdom born together with the mind, If held tightly, it is the original. If loosened, it is free from elaboration. If realized together, it is the Dharmakaya. I do not want to abandon conceptual thought, I think it is impossible to cultivate non-conceptual thought. If there is, then offer to the Lama and the Three Jewels. If there is not, then release awareness and sleep. Father Jambudvipa Fame said that. Thus it is said. Je Dusum Khyenpa said: Samsara and Nirvana abide without duality. Is the mind free from hope and fear? Wind and mind abide without duality. Is the meditation on the channels and winds relaxed? Appearance and mind abide without duality. Is the mind free from grasping and the grasped? Thus it is said. Delsheg Phagmo Drupa said: The waves of self-grasping afflictions, Are the wisdom of the Buddhas of the three times. The darkness of ignorance of conceptual thought, Is the great luminosity free from elaboration. The burning of the three poisons of affliction, Is the mandala of the victorious wisdom. The ocean of suffering of samsara, Is the palace of Nirvana. The waves of grasping and the grasped of conceptual thought, Are the unchanging Buddhas of the three times. Thus, and so on, immeasurable things appeared. Some people doubt like this: Those scriptures that were just quoted, although they deny that conceptual thoughts, Dharmakaya, etc., arising from the two truths are different, they do not deny that their essence is one, and according to the literal meaning, it seems undeniable that they explain that their essence is one. It is true. However, these venerable superiors declared that conceptual thought is Dharmakaya, that is, the essence of the two truths is one, for those whose disease of clinging to reality is very severe, the two truths and samsara and nirvana and conceptual thought are Dharmakaya.
