Moreover, although the clarity of awareness that is not of a different aspect does not cease, it does not follow its object, does not think, does not discern, and does not grasp. Like an image appearing in a mirror, the quality of awareness lies in the fact that self-characteristics are not established from one thing and one essence. The consciousness that appears in the object is the mind, so it does not go beyond the grasped and the grasper. Therefore, whether one establishes the term for combining the two, quiescence that focuses on the object of emptiness and insight that analyzes it, it does not surpass worldly meditation because it enjoys the object of clinging there. Therefore, if one can recognize awareness as it is directly pointed out and knows how to relax, then the adventitious stains of the mind, not being established as the nature of awareness, will be purified by self-extinguishing without a trace and will not be stained by habitual patterns. Root text: That is the wisdom of awareness abiding in itself, not relying on the means of meditation, free from sinking and excitement. The mind is focused on the object of focus, related to samadhi and the dependent and the depended upon. Although awareness appears in the object, it is not overcome by appearance, like mercury falling on the ground. The mind is with the part of the grasped and the grasper, mixed with the aspect of taking up conceptual thoughts. Although awareness does not abandon the nature of mind elsewhere, mind and awareness do not coincide, so with object and aspect, the afflictions that are one with self and substance also combine and flee. Thus, awareness is the wisdom of abiding in itself, not relying on the abiding method of meditation, free from its own nature of sinking and excitement. The mind is the samadhi that focuses on the object of focus with intelligence, and they are mutually related as the dependent and the depended upon, so it does not go beyond the grasped and the grasper. Although awareness appears in the object, it is not overcome by any appearance, like mercury falling into dust. The mind is combined with the object of the grasped and the part of the grasper, mixed with the aspect of all good and bad conceptual thoughts due to faults. Although awareness does not abandon the nature of mind elsewhere, the meaning of mind and awareness not coinciding is like the difference in time between sleeping and not sleeping. Moreover, with object and aspect, and with the meaning of realizing the unity of self, the aggregates of afflictions also flee, mutually dragging each other along.

Thus, the qualities of awareness are explained. Like this, the mind is the nature of constantly revolving thoughts, therefore it is said that there is no mind on the mind. The nature of mind is the nature of peace, free from all elaborations, therefore the nature of mind is luminosity. Thus, the state of the essence is clearly distinguished as being reasonable. Therefore, by making awareness the path, one will quickly be liberated from the prison of afflictions and samsara. That is (the meaning). Root verse: Thus escaping the prison of afflictions, surely liberates the Upadesha Section, this is the special Dharma, otherwise the aggregates of afflictions, Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas abandon and Bodhisattvas subdue with antidotes, general Mantras send to the path, Mind Section liberates in the nature, Space Section purifies into one Dharmata, in the space of awareness, self-establishment is destroyed, wonderful! This means that, like this, escaping from the state of suffering, obtaining the power to surely liberate from the prison of afflictions, one should know that this is the special Dharma of the Great Perfection Upadesha Section. Otherwise, the Shravakas abandon what should be abandoned through the gate of body and speech, the Pratyekabuddhas block from the mind, the Bodhisattvas initially subdue with antidotes, the outer three Mantras send to the path according to their own systems, the Mind Section boasts that the mind is definitely existent, and thinks that both samsara and nirvana are liberated in the nature, the Space Section purifies all the Dharmas that arise from the play of mind into one Dharmata, etc. When measured by the Upadesha Section, all of these are wonderful in that self-establishment is destroyed in the space of awareness! This is expressed with a slightly dissatisfied tone, and this is also the Atiyoga path that surely liberates from conceptual thoughts and afflictions. Afflictions and delusions, etc., suddenly appear like clouds in the sky and waves in the ocean, but they have never existed in the nature of awareness, therefore they are not abandoned like Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. They are not subdued with antidotes like Bodhisattvas, because what should be abandoned and the antidote are the same entity. Because the continuum of mind is simultaneous, therefore it is not sent to the path like general Mantras. Because mind cannot see mind, therefore it is not liberated in the nature like the Mind Section. Because wisdom cannot see mind, therefore it is not held as an ornament like the Space Section, but awareness is in the state of Dharmata, the self-aspect of Dharma is empty, the other-aspect of Dharma is empty, so for the philosophical tenets and desires of wisdom,
