The Mind Section abides, liberated from extremes. The Space Section has no other place to go, as all phenomena arise from the space of Samantabhadri, liberated from the extremes of antidotes, it is the actionless Space Section. The Instruction Section arrives at the natural state of being, liberated from the extremes of both abandonment and antidotes, free from clinging even to the mere appearance of emptiness. So, is it not similar to nihilism? Nihilism is when, in the initial state, the way of abiding of the nature, and in the path state, the ripening of cause and effect, and in the apparent state, the way of conduct, etc., are all uncertain, and one speculates wildly with conceptual thought, thus entering into a completely inverted state; while here, the self-born wisdom of nature is free from all elaboration, and nothing is established in any object, because the substance of cause and effect and effort is contradictory, so it directly shows the meaning that transcends good and evil, merit and demerit, therefore it is superior. Root verse: All are bodhicitta without a basis for liberation, The self-luminous clarity that abandons what liberates, Manifest in the space without basis or root, It is primordially liberated because it is unmade and uncorrected. Self-liberated by itself, it does not depend on conditions, Because it is nakedly liberated, it is free from all dependence, Liberated from the extremes of being designated as one and many, Liberated in the single awareness, it is without characteristics. Thus, for that, all, that is, the view of the Instruction Section is: From the beginning, there is nothing to be liberated, because the nature of bodhicitta is without object. What liberates is abandoned, that is, there is no other liberator, so the spontaneously accomplished self-luminous clarity also manifests in the space without basis or root, however, there is no clinging there, because there are no causes such as making and correcting, so it is primordially liberated, that is, liberated from the beginning. Moreover, it is self-liberated by itself, not depending on other conditions, and it is nakedly liberated, that is, free from all coverings, so the dependence is like one depending on one, the grasper and the grasped are both separated. Liberated from all the extremes of the object designated as one and the terms designated as many. Thus, the individual awareness is the object of wisdom, so it is beyond defiled mind. Root verse: Whatever awareness transcends the mind, Is the special quality of the Great Perfection of self-nature.

Those who have realized are liberated from the ground into awareness. Unenlightened beings wander in that very state of samsara. If distinguished by characteristics, they are like water and water bubbles. That is, "Who are those who have transcended the mind in the nature of reality?" Mind is accompanied by ignorance, and from it, deluded thoughts arise continuously, which are mental events. The unchanging essence of these is awareness. This is the Dharma of the Great Perfection of naturalness. Those who realize it as it is, from the primordial ground, a little wisdom dawns, and awareness becomes the basis for liberation. Thus, unenlightened sentient beings wander in the state of grasping that very consciousness as self. If these two are distinguished by characteristics, they are like pure water and water bubbles that have become its impurity. Moreover, in the state of the path, when the mind is merely self-illuminating and non-conceptual, and awareness is merely without object, although both are similar in being non-conceptual, the former is mixed with the latent tendencies of the alaya, so it is like the root of grasping and fixation of consciousness, not apparent. The latter, however, has the distinction of realizing the liberation of samsara and nirvana through awareness, such as thought-free recollection. Root text: Although mind and awareness are similar in being merely non-conceptual, awareness is without inherent nature, utterly transparent. Mind is swirling and deluded, like duckweed. Awareness is like the moon in the empty sky, clear to the depths. Mind is like the fifteenth-day moon, mixed with objects. Clarity without object is the quality of awareness. Being completely mixed with objects is the distinction of mind. That is, although mind and awareness are the same in being merely non-conceptual, or in being without delusion or conceptual thought, awareness is without inherent nature, that is, the initial consciousness is untainted by any fault or virtue, utterly transparent. The example of mind is like swirling water in duckweed or a gourd, and it is deluded because it is separate from the aspect of awareness. The example of actual awareness is like the moon in the empty sky, although the play of being mixed with all objects dissolves into the dharmadhatu, it is clear to the depths, just as the qualities of the moon do not diminish. The example of mind is like the fifteenth-day moon, similar to being mixed with all objects, clarity without object is the quality of awareness, and being completely mixed with objects is the distinction of mind. Furthermore, in the aspect of self-arisen wisdom that does not fixate on objects, there is spontaneously present awareness that abides in itself.
