Through... four extremes arise. Existence and non-existence, permanence and annihilation, even abiding in the middle is not the act of a wise person. This means that both pure Nirvana and impure Samsara are merely sudden illusory appearances, but in reality, they do not exist. Although they do not exist, due to the constant conceptualization of all appearances and the continuous grasping, thinking and analyzing the nature of things, the view of the four extremes arises. This is like the root of the three hundred and sixty heretical views of the outsiders. Even among insiders, some who follow these views, and due to errors in view and practice, develop faults such as clinging to existence, non-existence, permanence, and annihilation in relation to the nature of mind. Most people, although claiming not to have fallen into the four extremes, remain in the middle, that is, verbally acknowledging Madhyamaka, but arrogantly and groaningly holding onto a superior view, these are not the actions of a wise person. Root verse: Just as a silkworm binds itself, it is bound by the tenets of desire. In this, the dharmas established by the mind have no birth, cessation, abiding, going, or coming. Not one meaning, nor different meanings, not permanent, nor annihilated. All elaborations are pacified, knowing its own nature is the essence of wisdom arising from contemplation. This means that just as a silkworm makes a cocoon, wrapping itself with the silk from its mouth, thereby being bound, similarly, for the inconceivable nature of reality, understanding it in terms of what can be thought and spoken, one becomes bound by the tenets of desire, sinking into the mire of Samsara. However, in this world, all dharmas established by wisdom initially have no birth, in the middle have no cessation, and ultimately have no abiding, nor going, nor coming, etc. Not one meaning, nor different meanings, not permanent, nor annihilated, transcending thought and speech, all elaborations are pacified, knowing its own nature is emptiness, this is the essence of wisdom arising from contemplating the meaning of what has been heard. Root verse: The objects of appearance are earth, water, fire, wind, and space, mountains and forests, houses stacked upon houses, all conditioned things arise from causes, Samsara is dependent arising. This means that the objects of appearance are the outer five elements, and based on them, mountains, forests, tents, houses, and other places of dwelling, and based on them, people, wealth, etc., all conditioned things arise from causes, Samsara is dependent arising. As stated in the Lankavatara Sutra.

The teachings with the intention of Alaya-vijñana from the profound sutras such as the Bhumi Sutra, initially serve to refute the tenets of externalists. Subsequently, profound philosophical insights aim to abandon the clinging to the existence of Alaya-vijñana. Here, temporarily, the dependent origination of samsara is explained as follows: In a state of non-conceptual distraction, the Alaya that grasps the six objects of appearance, and the consciousness that illuminates appearance without allowing clinging, dependently arise through the affirmation, negation, and grasping of the objects of the five senses. The six consciousnesses, together with the afflicted mind, are labeled as the seven consciousnesses, and all the deluded appearances that arise on this mistaken basis are external dependent origination, occurring in a way that one relies on another. The root text states: 'Internal dependent origination is: From ignorance arises action; likewise, relying on one another, the connection up to aging and death is internal dependent origination.' Here, explaining according to the Sravaka vehicle, the five skandhas at the time of engaging in afflictions in the previous life are ignorance. Similarly, the five skandhas at the time of accumulating karma in the previous life are action. Consequently, the five skandhas at the time of conception in the mother's womb are consciousness. Experiencing the five stages of transformation, such as the fetal stage, until the sense faculties have not yet developed, the five skandhas are name and form. After the sense faculties have developed, until one is unable to engage with objects, the five skandhas are the six sense sources. After the sense faculties have awakened to objects, until one cannot distinguish between pleasure and pain, the five skandhas are contact. After distinguishing between pleasure and pain, until one is unable to engage in sexual activity, the five skandhas are feeling. After being able to engage in sexual activity, until one does not accept desired objects, the five skandhas are craving. The five skandhas at the time of accepting desired objects are grasping. Thereafter, the five skandhas at the time of accumulating karma are existence. The five skandhas at the beginning of the next life, from the time of emerging from the mother's womb, are birth. Subsequently, the name and form, the six sense sources, contact, craving, and feeling of the next life are aging and death. These twelve links of dependent origination have two aspects: momentary and continuous. The momentary aspect of completing an action is that, due to the influence of oneself and others, the sinful thought at the time of taking a life is ignorance. That karma
