To thoroughly distinguish the meaning of the objects expressed in the Tripitaka without confusion is the essence of higher wisdom training. Its ascertainment is the application of samadhi, that is, the actual wisdom born from meditation, free from all obscurations, or inferior wisdom, and the three wisdoms arising from listening, thinking, and meditation, which can accomplish true insight. Root verse: Destroy the assembly of afflictions, know the Dharma and the nature of Dharma, From the city of existence, go to the place without sorrow. The six perfections, such as generosity, also increase gradually, Relying on the wisdom of transcendence, one attains the fruit of the other shore. Thus, diligently striving for meaning with the three wisdoms destroys the afflictions from the root and lineage, and also knows the profound nature of Dharma and the true state of all phenomena that appear as mistaken. Knowing this, one can also enter the state of no sorrow without weariness in the city of existence filled with suffering. The six perfections, such as generosity, also gradually increase, that is, one obtains the fruit by relying on the noble Dharma of the Perfection of Wisdom. In short, gaining certainty in the infallibility of cause and effect, being able to distinguish between Dharma and non-Dharma; generating certainty in the qualities of the teacher and the teachings; all qualities depend on the virtuous friend; becoming weary of worldly conduct and ultimate goals; having a firm certainty in dependent origination; the higher and lower vehicles, the two truths, the two meanings, the two sutras and tantras, although there may be contradictions for others, there are no contradictions for the wise, and so on, there are many noble Dharmas. Although one obtains the position of king, etc., from the results of past generosity, if one does not have wisdom, one will quickly decline. Root verse: Here in this ordinary person's place, if one does not rely on the wisdom of listening, The merits of thinking and meditation do not abide and wander, The wisdom arising from listening is said to be the cause of all. Thus, if the continuum of a sentient being is noble, then by the power of past habits, it may be easy to understand the meaning of listening and thinking, but it is important to strive until one obtains the four correct knowledges. Here in this ordinary person's place, if the mind is stained by afflictions, being in such an inferior state, if one does not rely on the wisdom arising from listening, then the wisdom of thinking and meditation does not abide in the right place, but wanders elsewhere.

Foolishness is like a child showing off, imitating the behavior of adults, so one should strive to be the source of all learned wisdom, as taught. Therefore, in order to subdue those who do not believe in Buddhism, one should study grammar and logic; in order to guide those who have faith, one should study craftsmanship and medicine; and in order to understand everything oneself, one should seek inner knowledge. If all of this is for the sake of attaining Buddhahood, then of course it is acceptable, but in order to correctly show the true nature of selflessness from both a general and manifest perspective, it is necessary to distinguish between definitive and provisional meanings. The root is: With the wisdom that measures the measurable phenomena, measure the two, definitive and provisional, and the four, hidden and intentional meanings. The essence of all phenomena is suchness, abiding in the three doors of liberation, which is the definitive meaning. In order for phenomena to appear and enter the path, the path of provisional meaning is established by measuring with reason and merely applying labels. Among the two, which of the definitive and provisional meanings should one rely on and not rely on? Knowing this is the key to viewing all the scriptures. That is to say, in order to enter the path, all teachings are provisional; in order to enter the fruit, all teachings are definitive. If one distinguishes carefully, one should rely on meaning and not on words, rely on wisdom and not on discriminating consciousness, rely on definitive meaning and not on provisional meaning, rely on the nature of reality and not on the individual.
