When the mind of practicing Dharma arises, one should diligently strive without delay, not just verbally, but from the depths of one's heart, with resilient strength and autonomy, to engage in those actions that do not obstruct virtuous Dharma, just like a swan joyfully walking in a garden. Do not cast oneself into the abyss of obstacles through laziness and carelessness, do not forget the virtuous mind, but advance courageously. Root verse: Bad deeds entangle, bound by the ropes of worldly affairs, laziness suppresses, the power of diligence is also lost, despising oneself, the mind shrinks, accepting inferior practice. Such a person boards the ship of sin. This means that for those who, due to laziness and懈怠, have their acceptance and rejection of the six perfections reversed, attachment to bad deeds and indulgence in various worldly affairs are like being bound by ropes. Wanting to do good but feeling overwhelmed by the burden, suppressed by laziness, losing the motivation for diligence. Despising oneself, thinking that one cannot achieve Bodhi, thus becoming discouraged, accepting inferior practice, whether entering the Hinayana or being content with the status quo, such a person is like boarding the ship of sin, and will deteriorate further and further. Root verse: Destroying the four maras is armor-like diligence, walking the path of the ten bhumis is the diligence of application, not fearing, not retreating, without contentment, the diligent one accomplishes all wishes. That is to say, subduing the deva mara, that is, being controlled by the eight worldly dharmas, thereby abandoning the benefits of the next life; subduing the klesha mara, that is, being confused by the five poisons and three poisons, etc., eighty-four thousand kinds of afflictions, the mind is restless; subduing the skandha mara, that is, being attached to one's own five aggregates, thereby being controlled by suffering and happiness, hope and fear; subduing the death mara, even if there is a mind to practice Dharma, it is obstructed by laziness because desires cannot be satisfied, and one cannot enter the right path. What can destroy these is armor-like diligence. What can walk the path of the ten bhumis is the diligence of application. When faced with difficult tasks of benefiting sentient beings, not fearing, not retreating, not being satisfied with one's own abilities, one must be brave to take on difficulties and overcome fatigue.

Moreover, the so-called "regression" refers to the fact that when encountering altruistic activities that are difficult to accomplish, one turns to accomplishing self-interest due to discouragement and frustration, which are all considered faults. The so-called "lack of contentment" means that from life to life, from kalpa to kalpa, one does not think of self-interest in one's mind, and diligently accomplishes the benefit of others without any懈怠. No matter who it is, they can get everything they want. However, the path to the other shore requires repeatedly giving up one's life, and one must not retreat from it, etc. Although it is frightening, everyone should gradually adapt according to their own wisdom. It is said in the scriptures that diligence is very important. Before the future Maitreya Buddha attained Buddhahood, although he generated Bodhicitta, he was inferior to the prince of Jingfan (Sakyamuni Buddha), who attained Buddhahood before him, because of insufficient diligence. Therefore, it is very important to increase the power of diligence. Root verse: My life has come to the end of the day, and I am quickly and quickly approached by the darkness of death. The realm of samsara is more numerous than the stars, but that breath cannot continue. This is to say that the life of sentient beings is like the setting sun, quickly and quickly approached by the manifestation of the darkness of death. The realm of samsara is more numerous than the stars, but that breath cannot continue. This is a derogatory term, meaning that it cannot give lasting happiness. Moreover, regarding the faults of the body, it was said to King Guangming (name of the king) like this: impermanent, unstable, untrustworthy, etc. were said a lot, and finally it was shown that in order to counteract the opposite of diligence - laziness, remembering impermanence is the essence of the oral instructions. Root verse: The diligence that clears away the dirt of laziness, the slow-flowing, impartial river, until it reaches the all-knowing ocean, will not stop its swaying and rapid traces. This is to say that the river is like being contaminated by dirt, and the opposite of diligence is laziness. Therefore, one must stay away from such faults. Diligence is like a slow-flowing river without stopping, rather than showing that the great river can be blocked by dams, until it reaches the state of the all-knowing Buddha, like the ocean, that river will not stop its swaying and rapid traces.
