If so. Therefore, if one can subdue the concept of clinging to one's own resentment and the maker of anger as "I," then the asceticism of patience will treat me like a friend, for example, although there is not enough leather to cover the entire ground, the leather of the soles of the shoes is like covering all the ground, and if one possesses the armor of patience, it is like defeating all enemies. Root verse: Does the arrow of extremely harsh words pierce the heart of a person? By accepting it as a proximate cause, they become mutually dependent and dependent, fighting and tormenting each other. It means that the extremely harsh contact is not a form, but is喻以无形的言语之箭, so, is there anything piercing the heart of the person struck by harsh words? Careful consideration will reveal. Accepting and clinging to that invisible speech as a proximate cause, the minds of each other are disturbed, becoming a place of contention, you and I as the dependent and the dependent, fight and torment each other, which means suffering. Root verse: Here, the causes and effects of harm are boundless, arising from oneself, like sound and echo. If oneself does not arise, there is no place for harm, look at what one has done in the past, summoned by conditions. It means that at this time, although the causes and effects of harm are boundless, they also arise from oneself, just as the cause of sound leads to the generation of echo, if oneself does not arise, then the places of harm, such as earth, water, fire, and wind, have no consciousness, therefore, there is no benefit or harm to them, just like this, relying on the causes and conditions created by previous actions related to self-grasping, look and you will understand. A person with patience will have no enemies in the next life, no discord, will not increase happiness and unhappiness, will die without regret, and will be reborn in the happy realm of the gods. Root verse: If examined, it is not a great harm but a great benefit, relying on it one can obtain the boat of patience and the wish-fulfilling jewel of Bodhicitta, such harm should be offered like offering the holy Dharma. It means that if one does not examine anger, etc., it seems to be the cause of great harm, but if one examines carefully, it is not so, because it can become the object of practicing patience, and it will become a great benefit.

Therefore, by relying on the asceticism of patience, like embarking on a ship, crossing the ocean of samsara, one will surely obtain the jewel of bodhichitta. So, whoever causes harm to you, you should venerate them as you would the sacred Dharma. For example, in the past, Atisha brought a very angry acharya as an attendant, saying, "I really need this person as an object of my patience." Root verse: If examined closely, the nature of harm, has no defining characteristics, like ripples on water. When conceptual thoughts, angry frowns, and roughness dissipate, like the sky, it is completely empty, with no gain or loss. This verse means that if you examine closely, the so-called harm arises because the mind grasps the selfless nature as self, and grasps the non-other appearance as other, thus manifesting the appearance of benefit and harm. If you examine its essence, there is no definite thing like "this is its nature." For example, drawing lines on water will immediately disappear on their own. When the manifestation of conceptual thoughts and anger disappears like wrinkles on the surface of water, both the object of anger and the self that is angry become completely empty like the sky. At that time, it transcends the terms of gain and loss. Root verse: If one loses the three asceticisms of patience, the other five paramitas, such as generosity, are like a path surrounded by enemies on the outside, difficult to reach the desired state. Generate the power of wisdom. This verse means, for what reason? The three asceticisms of patience are: enduring hardship for the sake of the Dharma, not caring about the harm of others, and not being afraid of profound meanings. If these three patiences are lost, then the other five paramitas, such as generosity, are like a path surrounded by enemies on the outside, without any comfort, and difficult to reach the state of liberation and omniscience. Therefore, it is very important to generate the great power of the most excellent bodhichitta. The Blessed One also said that anger destroys the merits accumulated in thousands of kalpas and burns the roots of virtue of oneself and others, so one should abandon hatred and anger. Root verse: With diligence that does not pass the time, in a state of self-control, all virtuous dharmas, like geese walking in a garden, will not be abandoned on the cliff of laziness, but will enter into it. This verse means, virtuous
