The desire to accomplish this life, and, the arrogant who are not given predictions for either, it is important to examine the nature of where the three are situated. It means that entering the Dharma with faith and devotion that combines with the true meaning, the way of practicing the Dharma only in appearance is the same as before, but in reality, it is the desire to practice only for this life, and, the foolish arrogant who are not given predictions for both of these, that is, self-righteous, neither pursuing the next life nor this life, just entering the Dharma at will, it is important to examine the nature of any of these three. The first of these three, must be accepted without concealment, and the latter two must be transformed into the correct path through various means and dependent origination. Root: Armor is vast and wisdom is extremely firm, disregarding body and life, respectfully serving, as said, not protecting oneself, this person is liberated only by devotion. It means that the diligence of armor, from now until the attainment of the perfect enlightenment, is the extremely firm wisdom that does not slacken in the slightest in the practice of Bodhi, and disregarding body and life, respectfully serving the Lama, everything the Lama says is regarded as the Buddha's teachings, following the teachings, this person who does not protect himself is liberated only by faith and devotion. For example, when the Arhat Aryadeva spat out his snot, Nagarjuna Bodhisattva picked it up and put it in his mouth, thereby realizing the truth of the first bhumi. When the master Nyak was imprisoned in a dungeon, Pal Yeshe killed two prison guards and invited the master, thereby attaining accomplishment, is such an example. Root: Having faith and wisdom, learning and great compassion, respecting the vows and samaya, the three doors are tamed, broad-minded, generous, having pure vision, having shame and knowing shame. It means that as the difference of the disciple's qualities, having true faith, understanding the key points of the Dharma with wisdom, knowing what is not Dharma with learning, not abandoning sentient beings with great compassion, having the vows of individual liberation, the Bodhisattva's training and the vows of mantra, therefore the three doors are peaceful and tamed, broad-minded, getting along well with fellow practitioners and neighbors, having generosity and pure appearance, having shame and knowing shame, thereby continuously increasing the two accumulations.

One should protect the Lama with utmost reverence and intelligence. One should not be angry at the Lama's commands and rebukes, like a lowly horse. Like a boat, one should come and go, abandoning weariness of the place. Like a bridge, one should bear all good and bad. Like a blacksmith's furnace, one should endure any heat or cold. One should listen to the commands like a servant. One should abandon pride like a worn-out rag. One should abandon arrogance like a castrated yak. The scriptures say that one should serve the Lama in this way. That is to say, even if it concerns one's own life, one should not be stingy. Even the slightest wrongdoing towards the Lama should be guarded like one's own eyes. One should not be angry at the Lama's commands and rebukes, just as a horse does not retaliate when whipped. Wherever the Lama sends one, one should go and come like a boat, abandoning weariness of the place, bravely taking on difficulties, and carrying heavy burdens on one's back. Like a bridge, all high and low, wise and foolish can pass, bearing all good and bad, joy and sorrow, good and evil. Like a blacksmith's furnace, one should endure any heat or cold, such as hot iron and cold water. Whatever work the Lama assigns, whether easy or difficult, one should endure it. One should not disobey the Lama's commands, even if it is something one cannot do, but listen like a servant. When serving the Lama, one should abandon pride and arrogance like a castrated yak. The scriptures say that one should serve the Lama in this way. Root text: If you are wealthy, offer to the Fourth Jewel. Service and attendance, the work of body and speech, Will never be in vain. Among the three ways to please, practice is the best. That is to say, adding the Lama to the Three Jewels is the Fourth Jewel. If you are wealthy, offering to the Lama is the same as offering to the Three Jewels. Serving the Lama, who embodies the Three Jewels, with body and speech, no matter how hard you work, will never be in vain. Among the three ways to please the Lama—pleasing with material offerings, pleasing with service of body and speech, and diligently practicing—practice is the best. Root text: Do not view any action with wrong views. Most of the powerful ones in the noble land have shown the behavior of outcastes, wanderers, and evildoers. From falling
