Incomparable and deeply thoughtful, whatever worldly or supreme, all is for the benefit of others, free from the thought of self-interest, therefore surpassing all. Skilled in cutting off the doubts of disciples, and able to endure the fatigue brought about by the wrongdoings of others. Root verse: A great ship that saves from the ocean of samsara, A true helmsman who does not stray from the supreme path. Quenching the flames of karma and affliction, like a rain of nectar. Dispelling the darkness of ignorance, like the sun and moon. Because the vehicle is so vast, it is like the earth. A source of benefit and happiness, a wish-fulfilling tree. Possessing a treasure of Dharma, a good vase. Surpassing even the wish-fulfilling jewel that fulfills all wishes. Impartial love for all beings, like parents. Vast and swift compassion, like a river. Unchanging joy in the happiness and freedom from suffering of beings, like the king of mountains. Imperturbable equanimity, like rain clouds. Such a lama is equal to all Buddhas. Even if harmed, if connected to the path of liberation, For the person who relies on with sincere faith, The virtues of high status and definite goodness will fall like rain. This is because birth, old age, sickness, and death are the ocean of samsara, and saving from it is like a great ship. A true merchant who does not stray from the supreme path of liberation. Quenching the flames of karma and affliction, like a rain of nectar. Dispelling the darkness of ignorance, like the sun and moon, although the burden is heavy, it is like the earth that bears it. Becoming the source of benefit and happiness for beings, like a wish-fulfilling tree. Possessing all the treasures of Sutra and Tantra Dharma, like a good vase. All wishes are fulfilled, surpassing even the wish-fulfilling jewel. Therefore, relying on the lama, one will surely attain the state of liberation and omniscience. Impartial love for all beings, like parents, without discrimination between friends and enemies, vast and swift compassion, like a river. For the happiness and freedom from suffering of beings, unchanging joy, like the king of mountains. Equanimity that is not disturbed by any attachment or aversion, like rain clouds, such a lama is equal to all Buddhas, even if harmed, if connected to the path of liberation, for the person who relies on with sincere faith from the depths of their heart, the happiness of humans and gods in this life and ultimate liberation

This is to say that the glory and virtue of the all-knowing one descends like rain. Root text: The sick rely on the doctor, the guest relies on the guide, the fearful rely on the warrior, the merchant relies on the leader, the boatman relies on the helmsman, similarly, one should rely on the holy person to escape the fear of birth and death and the threat of the enemy of afflictions. That is to say, how should one rely on the holy person? Just as the sick rely on the doctor, the guest going to a dangerous place relies on the guide, the warrior fearing encounter with enemies, and the merchant relying on the leader when crossing the sea, and the boatman relying on the helmsman when crossing the river, one should rely on the holy person to be liberated from the suffering of birth, old age, sickness, and death, and the threat of the enemy of afflictions. Root text: Approaching him is the disciple, if the vessel is broken, the essence is of no benefit. Merely satisfied with material things, having obtained them, he flaunts the changes of the four seasons with false faith. Initially, he does not enter the Dharma path, like a wild yak. In the middle, he hates hearing and thinking, and pursues this life. Finally, he holds onto sinful friends, his actions are reversed, like a wild man at the edge of the forest. This is to say that for a bad disciple with a broken vessel, filled with all kinds of faults such as doubt and arrogance, especially skilled at finding fault with the guru, unable to see the virtues, thinking that he is superior to the guru. Such a disciple, proud of his lineage and wealth, not keeping vows, conceited with accumulated knowledge, no matter how much essence of maturation and liberation is poured into the vessel full of faults, it is of no benefit at all. If he merely obtains a little material offering, he is satisfied with it, and with false faith he cannot persevere, flaunting like the changes of the ground in spring, summer, autumn, and winter. Initially, due to being accustomed to ordinary behavior, he cannot enter the Dharma path, like a wild yak. In the middle, although outwardly he seems to observe discipline and conduct, hearing cannot cut off external bonds, thinking does not contemplate cause and effect such as doing good and abandoning evil, but instead hates virtuous deeds and pursues this life. Finally, holding onto sinful friends, he is devoted to non-virtuous actions such as killing, stealing, and plundering, his actions are reversed, like a wild man at the edge of the forest. Moreover, the evil demon is sinful, even if one sentient being attains Buddhahood, his territory will be reduced.
