Showing displeasure with "pa," and in response to the Lama's teachings, avoiding lies, nonsense, meaningless chatter, irrelevant laughter, idle talk, and all sorts of disrespectful and fearful behavior. Instead, abandoning thoughts and actions that are the opposite, such as contempt. Respectfully prostrate and show reverence with the body, offer prayers and take refuge with respectful speech, and cultivate faith and pure perception with respectful mind. Approach the Lama skillfully through the three doors of pacification. Root text: Do not befriend those who curse and hate the Lama; if you can, prevent them. If they speak casually, the power of sin is especially strong, causing damage to vows. This means that if someone becomes an enemy of the Lama, do not befriend those who harbor cursing and hateful thoughts. If you have the ability, prevent them from harming the Lama. Even if you cannot prevent it, but the enemy speaks casually to be friendly with you, the power of sin is especially strong, so it is important to be careful to prevent your own vows from being damaged. Root text: Be close to the Lama's retinue and Vajra siblings with the comfort of a belt, the ease of salt, and the patience of a pillar. This means that you should always be comfortable with the Lama's relatives and dependents, as well as all beings, like a belt that is always comfortable and never gets tiring. Mix with everyone, high and low, with the ease of salt. Endure all frustrations, annoyances, and wrong views like a pillar. You must attend to the Lama's retinue and Vajra siblings. Root text: Like swans relying on a supreme pond, and bees tasting the essence of flowers, always associate with wondrous conduct, without weariness, holding the Lama's heart, and tasting the qualities by taking faith as close. This means that in the world, just as flocks of swans rely on a supreme pond, without attachment or aversion, and like bees tasting the essence of flowers, no matter how long you associate, there is no wrong view or weariness. By accomplishing the Lama's words with wondrous conduct, without weariness, hold the Lama's heart, which means being in harmony with the Lama, with faith.
