Although I possess everything, the three vows each return according to the time of the ritual, and their respective rules are not mixed. Moreover, within the respective periods of protection for the three vows of layperson, novice, and fully ordained monk, all the afflictions to be abandoned and the vows to be kept, both root and branch, are fully complete. Furthermore, whether or not the vows transform depends on the individual, and their essence is realized through the power of wisdom. Distinguishing the difference between general and specific is key. Therefore, the three vows are prescribed transgressions, and without vows, there is neither merit nor transgression. Intermediate virtue, not bound by vows, cannot escape samsara. Root: If one desires a fundamental transformation, there is no need for restoration. One transgression arises from the perspective of individual liberation. If one restores it oneself, it is contradictory because it has already transformed. If one restores it from the upper level, then for that, because no transgression has occurred, one argues that there is no need for restoration. This means that according to the view of desiring a fundamental transformation, there is no need for restoration. If one says that any transgression arising from the perspective of individual liberation must be restored from individual liberation itself, then the lower vow has already transformed into the upper level, so restoration is contradictory. If one restores it from the upper level, even if the vow of individual liberation has been damaged, because no transgression has occurred on the upper level, one argues that there is no need for restoration. In this way, the actor is the mind, and the mind itself is good and non-good action. From good and bad actions, happiness and suffering arise, so the method of adopting and abandoning them is the vows. If a monk with three qualities who has entered the path claims to be a Vajra Holder, then from the general perspective, because each holds the characteristics of the three vows and returns on their own without mixing, there is no simultaneous transformation in the continuum of a person who has received the three vows from all foundations to all. Just as copper ore is copper, and brass ore and lead ore appear separately, it is also unreasonable to say that the lower transforms into the upper and that it is enough to keep only one mantra. Because disparaging the lower is a transgression, and it is said that all vows must be kept, it will cause harm. Root: Are the vows born from body and speech corporeal? The seeds of renunciation and continuous mind possess true clinging. Without mastering the methods of transformation and path application, even if one enters the Great Vehicle path and receives empowerment, it is difficult to obtain the transformation of

Not a Vajra Holder. This means that since the vows of individual liberation arise from body and speech, one should continuously generate the mind to abandon misdeeds such as attachment and aversion to tangible objects, just like planting a seed in the ground. Those who possess the fault of clinging to truth, who appear to be Bodhisattvas, until they transform dreams and illusions into methods of utilizing afflictions as the path, as in the tantric scriptures. Even if one enters the Mahayana path and receives the four empowerments, one is not a Vajra Holder who has obtained the literal meaning of transforming the lower into the higher. The root is: Purification of vows lies in perception, purification of perception lies in deity yoga, purification of that lies in habituating to wisdom, the transgressions of precepts, having the nature of arising and ceasing, not grasping self-characteristics, without gain or loss, not abiding in contradiction from beginning to end, the essence being conventional, therefore transformation is accomplished. This means that one should first show that one's own impure perception, and what produces perception, is the deity yoga of the generation stage, and that itself should also become accustomed to pure wisdom. Because the prescribed transgressions are actions of body and speech, having the nature of arising and ceasing, therefore, not grasping self-characteristics, that is, not grasping things and appearances, therefore, there is nothing to be gained by guarding them, and nothing to be lost by not guarding them. Because there is no contradiction in any of the three times from beginning to end, therefore the essence is conventional, that is, not ultimate truth, so transformation is accomplished. The root is: The basis is pure, both intention and thought are manifestly possessed, with the three vows of practice through aspiration, abiding has distinctions, guarding guards against what is difficult to guard, possessing increases possession, mending mends from its own place, because defects are removed like chaff, mending is accomplished. Why? If creating faults, then everything is prohibited, if creating virtue and qualities, then it is permitted, permission and prohibition do not abide in the path of words, but are established in connection with the continuum of the individual. This means that one should be clear about the individual identities of lay practitioners, novices, monks, Bodhisattvas, etc., and that both the intention and thought should be trained in their respective acceptances and rejections, both of which should be possessed without concealment and in a manifest state. For those who possess only the three vows of practice through aspiration, the Pratimoksha, Bodhisattva, and Mantra vows have distinctions when abiding, and when guarding, one should especially guard those that are difficult to guard, and the other two should also be practiced like removing chaff.
