In short, all Buddhas and their sons, the Bodhisattvas, having thoroughly examined and investigated with the power of wisdom, have shown that the source of all temporary and long-term happiness and virtues is undoubtedly the practice of the Great Vehicle. Since this is the result of such examination, if the places of what to take and what to abandon are mistaken, and the precepts of Bodhicitta are abandoned, then the one who claims to abandon them will commit the offense of deceiving all sentient beings. In this way, that person will undoubtedly wander in the endless future lives in the lower realms. Therefore, it is very important to avoid the faults of harming sentient beings. Supreme bliss is only experienced by the Buddhas, but intermediate bliss, like a cool shade to rest in the suffering of Samsara, is the precious Bodhicitta. Therefore, it is very important to strive to prevent it from declining. Root verse: Those who possess both downfall and the power of Bodhicitta, who act as demons alternately in Samsara, if they cause long-term obstruction to attaining the grounds, then those who abandon the precepts are madmen. This refers to the fact that for those who have both the karma of certainly falling into the lower realms and the power of Bodhicitta, what is it that alternately acts as a demon in Samsara? That is, if (abandoning the precepts) causes long-term obstruction to attaining the first ground and so on, then the person who takes the precepts and then abandons them is a madman, which is a degradation. Root verse: Those who, even for a small cause and effect of harm, have extremely strong anger and pride, after enduring the punishment of arrows, spears, and swords, do not turn back until the purpose is achieved. At all times, after fighting with the powerful afflictions, the five poisons, the three poisons, etc., which are certainly my enemies, how can one abandon the vow to protect the precepts before the ritual of appeasing the old grudges is over? This refers to the fact that in the world, those who, even for a small cause and effect of harm, have extremely strong anger and pride, and cannot even endure it, do not spare their lives, endure the harsh punishment of arrows, spears, and other swords, and do not turn back until they achieve their purpose of harming others. Then, compared to these people, how can one abandon the vow to protect the precepts after fighting with the powerful afflictions, the five poisons, the three poisons, etc., which are certainly my enemies at all times, before the ritual of appeasing the old grudges is over?

Who would be willing to give up the vow to protect the bodhisattva's precepts until the ceremony of competing and quarreling like fighting with Ga is not over? This is (the original text). Root verse: If I am bound by afflictions in the prison of diligence, and even my own measure cannot be known, then how can all beings be liberated from it, and how can the steadfastness of salvation not diminish? This is to say that those afflictions, whether in external objects, internal senses, or in between, do not exist, but arise suddenly from delusion, and delusion itself has no place. Afflictions are not tangible things, although they exist like the dependent and the depended upon. But in reality, all beings are bound in this prison, and because of ignorance and other reasons, even their own measure cannot be known, then how can all beings be liberated from it, and how can the steadfastness of salvation not diminish? In particular, if one cannot benefit sentient beings and instead gives rise to a peaceful mind that only seeks to accomplish one's own benefit, that is abandoning bodhicitta. Root verse: On the ground of possessing mindfulness and awareness, the sprout of bodhicitta is easy to grow, so one should guard it without degenerating, purify defilements, and diligently practice the means of increasing it. This is to say that possessing mindfulness, constant remembrance, and awareness is like planting the seed of bodhicitta on the ground, and the sprout is easy to grow. Therefore, after entering the Mahayana path, one should guard the precepts without degenerating, gradually purify the defilements that are not in accordance with it, and diligently practice the means of increasing the precious bodhicitta. This is (the original text). Root verse: In particular, there are twenty kinds of distinctions of downfalls: the five of the king, such as stealing the property of the Three Jewels; the five of the ministers, such as destroying towns and cities; the eight of the common people, such as teaching emptiness without having cultivated the mind; and abandoning the aspiration and practice minds. This is to say that anyone who has been empowered from the crown of the royal family and has become a ruler, exercising power over the subjects, whether it is stealing or instigating others to steal the property and utensils of stupas and sanghas, and the property that should be offered to the sangha but is not offered, this is the first downfall. Also, those who believe in the Hinayana path and have entered it, preventing them, and to the Mahayana dharma
