"Do not extinguish the lamp," which means being extremely stingy and miserly with items and utensils, not using them for offerings and donations. For those with evil minds, whatever thoughts and actions they engage in are like embodiments of sin. No matter how much they hear about the faults of samsara, they will not generate renunciation or aversion. They have absolutely no faith, which is the gateway to perceiving the Dharma. Their three doors of body, speech, and mind are extremely coarse, and they spend their time solely engaging in misdeeds. Even if they see or hear the qualities of the Three Jewels, they will not generate respect. They boast of having entered the Buddhist teachings, yet they are completely unconcerned about their violations of the three vows. Therefore, it is very important to strive to eliminate these faults and create favorable conditions. Root verse: In places where sinful suffering rages like a storm, accompanied by toil and fear, with tainted merit, harboring resentment towards the Dharma, the eight states of unfreedom. After contemplating, make your leisure meaningful. This means that, driven by sinful actions, in places where suffering rages like a storm, if one is born in the eight states of unfreedom, one will be bewildered about the methods for attaining happiness in both the present and the future, and will diligently create the causes of suffering alone. Therefore, tainted merit accompanied by toil and fear refers to non-meritorious actions, the ten non-virtuous deeds. These are contrary to the Dharma, hence the term "harboring resentment." After contemplating the faults of such unfreedom and the qualities of leisure and endowment, we are exhorted to make our leisure human body meaningful. Root verse: In the central sacred land, like pure ground, possessing faculties and complete limbs, having faith in the objects of faith, the flower of virtuous deeds not destroyed by sin, being born as a human, like a wish-fulfilling tree, is extremely rare. The Victorious Udumbara flower appears in the world, opening the flower of Dharma, becoming a garden of teachings, abiding without decay, fully entering into it, relying on the shade of the holy ones is even rarer. This refers to the five personal endowments and the five circumstantial endowments. The first is: In the place where the holy Dharma flourishes, that land is like pure ground, possessing faculties, with limbs not defective, and having faith, etc. Not being born as soldiers, merchants, hunters, fishermen, etc., who engage in evil deeds, these are lineages that are difficult to enter the Dharma, hence the saying "the flower of virtuous deeds not destroyed by sin," being born as a human is like a wish-fulfilling tree, which is extremely rare, this is a metaphor. Moreover, obtaining a human body

Studying and, being born in a place where the Dharma flourishes, having complete faculties, and turning away from negative actions. The five kinds of faith in the Buddha, Dharma, and Sangha are the five self-perfections. Secondly, fearing the faults of samsara, the appearance of Buddhas in the world is as rare as the Udumbara flower, but the supreme teacher Shakyamuni Buddha appeared in the world and opened the flower of Dharma, meaning that the lotus garden of the teachings is fully flourishing. Moreover, one can correctly enter whichever path of Sutra or Tantra one wishes to enter, and rely on the refuge of holy beings who can show the way to enter, which are said to be rare in sequence. That is, the Buddha appears, teaches the Dharma, the taught Dharma does not disappear, those who wish for their own good practice it, and similarly, those who sincerely practice the Dharma are protected with love by those above, and those below also have faith and affection, etc., are the five other perfections. Such a human body endowed with eighteen freedoms and advantages is extremely difficult to obtain. Root verse: Why is the tree of self-endowment, and the Udumbara flower of other-dependent endowment, the ten qualities of both, this leisure clinging to the eight is not obtained again. What is the meaning of 'why'? The five self-endowments are as rare as a wish-fulfilling tree, and the five other endowments are even rarer, like the Udumbara flower. The ten qualities of self and other endowments, clinging to the human body of the eight leisures, such a body is not obtained again. So it is said. Root verse: Why the blind turtle's neck and the yoke analogy, the number of humans and animals, the stars of day and night, by this division, the hungry ghosts and hells, sequentially knowing will arise. It means that the teacher Shakyamuni Buddha said to the monks, this world has become a great ocean, and in the depths there is a blind turtle, which surfaces once every hundred years, and on the surface of the ocean floats a yoke with a single hole, blown in various directions by the winds from all directions, the chance of the blind turtle's neck entering the hole of the yoke is more difficult than obtaining a human body.
