Having incomplete faculties and wrong views, wandering in places where Buddhas do not appear. The so-called 'loss of mindfulness' refers to the arising of non-virtuous thoughts, lacking the antidote to control them, and indulging in evil deeds through the actions of the mind, which inevitably leads to the complete loss of one's own happiness. Such people, from this life to the next, will fall into the three lower realms of hell, hungry ghosts, and animals, as well as long-life gods (the formless realm), remote or barbaric lands, and other places where good and evil are reversed. Having incomplete faculties, such as defects in the eyes, ears, and tongue, respectively leads to the faults of not seeing the Dharma, not hearing the Dharma, and not being able to speak, as well as mental disorders that render the mind unable to function properly. Wrong views refer to denying that the fruits of virtuous and non-virtuous actions bring happiness and suffering, which is a slander of cause and effect. Places where Buddhas do not appear refer to this age of strife, when, although teachers appear in the world, people's lifespans gradually decrease, and they are afflicted by disease, war, and famine, causing the Dharma to temporarily decline, and when, after the teachings of the thousand Buddhas have ended, the dark age of the future dawns, those who cling to existence. Root verse: On the scorching iron ground, there is no moment of respite, harsh punishments come again and again. Hell beings cannot be deprived of life and die, still caught in the net of angry evil deeds. This refers to the first of the eight unfavorable conditions, which is hell. Hell is divided into eight hot hells and eight cold hells, as well as eighteen kinds of neighboring hells. Although they each suffer, they cannot die because the karmic results of being born there have not been exhausted. Moreover, they are still bound by the net of evil deeds with angry minds, unable to reach the place of liberation, so there is no opportunity to practice the Dharma. There are also two kinds of hungry ghosts, those who dwell in one place and those who wander in the air. The common feature is that they always suffer from hunger and thirst, so there is no opportunity to practice the Dharma. Animals also generally exist in the darkness of ignorance and delusion, unable to distinguish between good and evil, and suffering from mutual harm and other sufferings. In particular, animals in the human world are used for killing, blood extraction, plucking, and carrying and riding. Horses and mules are fitted with reins, yaks are fitted with nose rings, and tied with ropes

In short, because one can freely use excrement and the like, and because one's mind is occupied with the tormenting practice of disciplining the body, one does not have the leisure to engage in virtuous activities. Root text: Pus, blood, excrement, and the like are not to be found; what need is there to mention the suffering of impoverished pretas? Rivers and trees dry up at a mere glance; the suffering of burning entrails never ends. Due to the power of obscurations, there is no certainty of lifespan. Animals devour one another, and hunters cruelly set traps to take lives. They are tormented by being tamed for labor. What is the use of being born in such a place? These points will be discussed later in the context of the faults of samsara, and what has just been said is sufficient. Root text: Extending life with extremely long-lasting activities, the formless realms that do not distinguish opportunities for rebirth, the gods without perception whose basis for hearing and thinking is interrupted, and holding to wrong views at the time of death, are not endowed with leisure. This also means that those born in the formless realms, although they live long lives, do not have the opportunity to engage in knowledge because they do not have a physical basis that relies on the three roots, channels, and winds. Root text: Although relying greatly on the support of two legs, their consciousness is not virtuous; the barbarians who are bound and ruled wander in utter confusion about what to adopt and abandon. This means that although barbarians stand and walk on two legs, and their aggregates, elements, and sense bases are similar to those of humans, all their thoughts and actions are only unwholesome, so they do not have the leisure to practice Dharma. Root text: Those who are mute due to impaired sensory vows, even if they meet noble guides, are like the clamor of a rock-obstructed echo, unable to communicate, and grieve in the great wilderness. This means that because they are mute, they cannot communicate verbally, and because they are mentally dull, even if they associate with excellent individuals, they are ignorant of what to adopt and abandon in terms of virtue and non-virtue, and therefore do not have leisure. Root text: Having obtained the great ship that crosses the ocean of birth, waving the banner of intelligence, yet not rejoicing in the appearance of the Buddha, those who hold wrong views are tormented by demons. This means that some people outwardly possess beauty and wealth, and display an attitude of benefiting, teaching, and correcting others with great cleverness, yet they do not rejoice in the appearance of the Buddha, but rather with contempt
