If you make a vow not to leave the Sangha, it will turn into a good deed. Root text: The nature of equanimity is to be free from love and hatred, to cut off partiality and sectarianism, to expand equality, and to act equally towards the object of benefiting others. Harmonize with the essence of the form and the formless. This means that the nature of equanimity is to be free from attachment and hatred towards both loving relatives and hateful enemies in the object of cultivating the three immeasurables mentioned above. Towards the favorable and unfavorable sides, without distinguishing between them, expand equality, and towards the three types of people, enemies, relatives, and intermediaries, abandon the three concepts of love, hatred, and neutrality, and towards the object of benefiting others, act equally in thought and behavior. Harmonize the essence of the form, which is the action of body and speech, and the formless, which is the action of thought, to make them harmonious. Root text: The love of desire, the compassion of stinginess, the joy of arrogance, and the equanimity of ignorance are not the path to liberation, and the biases and approximations of the four Brahma-viharas should be abandoned. This means that loving one's own son, relatives, friends, etc., while not caring about others at all, although this seems like love, its nature is desire. Similarly, not allowing one's own horses, etc., to work out of compassion, while doing the opposite to others, is stinginess that resembles compassion. Cultivating joy for the perfection, happiness, and well-being of oneself and one's own side, while not doing so for others, is arrogance and jealousy disguised as joy. Neither benefiting nor harming others, but simply remaining silent, although this seems like equanimity, it is the place of ignorance, and therefore cannot become the true path to liberation. This fault is the four Brahma-viharas, which refers to the four immeasurables of the worldly creator's school, pointing out that one should abandon its biases and approximations, this is the teaching. Root text: Here, related to the path of peace, the object of focus is all sentient beings, the nature of reality that appears but has no inherent existence, from the power of this way of contemplation, the two Bodhicittas arise, therefore it is called the four immeasurables with characteristics. This means that the four immeasurables related to the path of peace here, although all sentient beings are treated equally as the object of focus.

If it is not clinging to truth and reality, but considering the nature of phenomena, which appear but are without inherent existence, as illusory, then this method of contemplation becomes powerful, without any obstacles or errors, and thus becomes the cause for generating the two aspects of Bodhicitta. Therefore, it is different from worldly contemplation methods and is considered like the four immeasurables of Avalokiteśvara. Root verse: The method of contemplation does not necessarily have a sequence, focus on the object that is easy to arise. However, if practicing loving-kindness becomes the basis for attachment, then switch to practicing equanimity, which is free from near and far. This means that if practicing loving-kindness becomes biased towards one's own relatives and friends, becoming the basis for attachment, then practicing equanimity can liberate one from that fault. Root verse: If it becomes ignorant and non-committal, then switch to practicing compassion, to prevent the cause and effect of suffering. This means that if the mind of equanimity becomes a state of non-committal, neither beneficial nor harmful, then generating great compassion can prevent ordinary equanimity. Root verse: If compassion is weak and biased, then switch to practicing joy, to prevent the arising of inferior thoughts. This means that if compassion is only directed towards criminals, and not practiced towards all beings, becoming short-lived and biased, then practicing joy can become an antidote to inferior thoughts. Root verse: If joy makes the mind agitated and becomes an object of distraction, then reverse the order of loving-kindness, etc., and practice them alternately. This means that if practicing joy towards the happiness and prosperity of others causes the mind to become distracted, then by alternately practicing loving-kindness, joy, compassion, and equanimity, or by practicing in a way that transcends the sequence, one can be liberated from obstacles. Root verse: By contemplating in this way, the ripening result becomes manifest, obtaining the body of gods and humans in the desire realm and ultimate benefit. By acting as a conducive cause, experiencing such things, one can be separated from unfavorable conditions and obtain happiness. By the power (of the four immeasurables), one enjoys the pleasing realm of bliss and joy. The four actions become powerful, and one will obtain the qualities of accomplishing the benefit of oneself and others. This means that by contemplating in this way, as a result of ripening, one can temporarily obtain the body of gods and humans as a basis, perfect the two accumulations, and also benefit others; ultimately, the ultimate benefit will also be naturally accomplished. By acting as a conducive cause, always
