Then, the king accepted the letter and promised to return all the treasures. Subsequently, as instructed by the Lord of the Devas (Indra), he wrote on a copper plate: "Those who violate the sacred command of the ruler of Jambudvipa must bear the penalty on their own shoulders and deliver it here." After writing this, he threw the copper plate away, causing the dragons to be frightened and promise to return the treasures within seven days. As promised, many people gathered inside and outside the city, and the king sat on the lion throne. The dragons transformed into human form, carrying sacks filled with jewels on their shoulders, placing them at the king's feet and prostrating. The king then praised the virtues of the Buddha's teachings: The fire of merit cannot burn, nor will it be destroyed by the wind. The water of merit cannot dissolve, nor will it be carried away like earth. Merit cannot be stolen by kings or robbers; merit endures. Neither men nor women can take it away. Merit is the treasure that brings happiness; it will not separate, and wherever one is born, it will follow. Thus it is said. Therefore, one should not only strive to accumulate merit, but also, in order to ultimately attain Buddhahood, place one's mind on practicing the Dharma. The root is: The armor of Dharma practice should be strong, the profound and vast realm of Dharma is like the ocean, the bow of the Lord of Freedom. Whether one has the courage to draw this bow or not, one should always put a steadfast heart first. In this way, one will not go astray, but will walk on the six perfections. This is because our teacher, after generating the supreme Bodhicitta, underwent various austerities in order to accumulate merit for countless eons, and finally attained enlightenment and became the protector of beings. In order to achieve the same state, and in order to enter the Dharma that is in accordance with this goal, no matter what adversities and obstacles arise, one should not be swayed by them, but should wear the armor that is unyielding and strong, and for the three great profound Dharmas, like the ocean, or like the vast realm of Dharma, dependent arising and emptiness, like the sky, whichever it may be, one must elevate one's courage to enter both, because just like the bow of the Lord of the Gods, even the strongest giants of the four continents cannot draw it.

Even pride, if accompanied by perseverance, is an example that has not been obstructed. It is like the jewel of Dede Bon Songdan, which was taken by a dragon into the depths of the ocean. He wanted to dry up the ocean, so he scooped up water with his hands and poured it out. Because of his unwavering perseverance, the dragon became afraid and returned the jewel. Like those who make perseverance their companion, they will not make any mistakes on the path, but will walk on the six perfections. Root text: Its favorable conditions are the seven-branch offering, and pouring water, etc., are all accumulations and purifications. Unfavorable conditions do not trample on it, and walking on the path relies on merit. This is the path-stage of a great person. Here it is said that the favorable condition for meritorious deeds is the seven-branch offering, and pouring water, etc., from within, offering upwards and giving downwards, etc., are all accumulations of merit and purification of obscurations. The unfavorable conditions of the six perfections do not trample on it, and the method or cause of walking on the five paths is only the accumulation of merit, so relying on it, this is the path-stage of a great person. In short, even if the object of generosity is small, a vast mind is the most excellent. Therefore, it is important to recognize even the arising of a single thought, to abandon factors that are contrary to merit, and to accomplish favorable conditions. The key to opening the treasury of qualities, a concise commentary, the precious key of the "Ocean's Water Drop," the end of the fifth chapter. Chapter Six. The first gateway to entering the Buddhist path is taking refuge. The first gateway to entering the Buddhist path is taking refuge. Root text: When the reservoirs of the three fears are turbulent, having firm faith in those worthy of refuge, the white umbrella of the fame of the Three Jewels is held as the very first step in entering the teachings. Here it is said that the fear of the suffering of samsara in general is like that of the Hearers and Solitary Realizers. The fear of focusing on one's own benefit is like a Bodhisattva who abandons the benefit of others, similar to the Hearers and Solitary Realizers. Or, the fear of ordinary delusion is like entering the Mantrayana path, but the vessel and its contents have not changed from the ordinary state, so one boasts of being a Mantrayana practitioner, and like those who practice Prajnaparamita but are separated from taking appearances as illusory paths. This is explained.
