Whatever the sin, do not follow after image and size. For example, in the past, on a certain road, a statue of the Buddha was about to be destroyed by rain, and a person covered the statue with his shoelace to protect it from the rain. Another person, fearing disrespect to the statue, removed the shoelace. As a result, both of them obtained kingship. Root verse: Thus, constancy and attachment, without antidote, merit being the main basis, actions arising from the basis, these five aspects, of good and evil, light and heavy, closely taking and abandoning, are said to be the characteristics of consciousness. That is to say, constancy means that even a small sin, if accumulated in the mind for a long time, will eventually lead to sins such as killing. Attachment means that before the sin conceived in the mind is realized, the mind cannot be at peace and strives only for that. Having no antidote means that one has no regret for the arising of desire and hatred, and strives to achieve it. The basis is twofold: merit being the main thing refers to the Three Jewels and the Bodhicitta that is connected to one's life, as well as those who are liberated from afflictions, and all those who sincerely strive to practice virtue and abandon evil. From the point of view of benefiting the basis, it refers to parents, and from the point of view of both worldly customs and Dharma, it refers to those who are kind, as well as those who are helpless, facing danger, impoverished, tormented by enemies, and so on. These five aspects, whether good or bad, must be understood in terms of their entry, retreat, taking, and abandoning, and are important matters that cannot be neglected. Root verse: The basis of all, the Alaya unindicated, from it arise consciousness and the consciousness of the five objects, the great ignorance pervading all, grasping the three poisons, transmigrates high and low. That is to say, the Alaya is the essence of the minds of all sentient beings, the ground of ignorance and delusion, the source of the eighty-four thousand afflictions, and the unindicated state in which thoughts of good and evil have not yet arisen. From this arises the discriminating consciousness, the manifestation of the Alaya consciousness is the place where all conventional dharmas arise, although it has not yet expanded outward, but is about to expand, which is what some people now recognize as "subtle." From there arises the thought of clinging, and just as something recognizable arises, there is sometimes subtle observation of subtle clinging, and sometimes there is not.

is the mind that clings to self where there is no self. From this arise the five poisons such as attachment and aversion, initially preparing to arise, and appearing in the form of affirmation and negation once arisen, this is the afflicted mind. And all the engaging and disengaging of acceptance and rejection in this is the consciousness of mind. In short, the ground-of-all without conceptualization is ignorance that is the single nature of the cause, and from this, the clinging to self is coemergent ignorance, and from this, generated by the mind and the afflicted mind, all appearances of grasping and being grasped, internal and external, are imputational ignorance. Furthermore, the consciousness that relies on the five sense faculties and enters the five objects, the collection of later consciousnesses arises and expands from the earlier ones, therefore it is a birthplace. Thus, the five faculties, five consciousnesses, and five objects gather together, mutually contacting and thus producing contact, and from this, the arising of attachment, aversion, etc., is feeling caused by conditions. Among these, the mind faculty within is the master of all grasping of two, attachment, aversion, hope, fear, abandonment, acceptance, which arise from the consciousnesses of the five external gates. Internally, it is the source of all hidden coarse aggregates, the support of the three realms. And that support or basis is considered the mind. All collections of conceptualizations, internal and external, are called consciousness when each knows its own form as it is. However, there are different views in different sutras, tantras, and philosophical schools, but that's all for here. In short, from the object of knowledge, the faculty of knowing, and attention, the motivation of the three poisons arises, and all the actions accumulated from this are non-virtuous. Conversely, all the actions accumulated from love, compassion, etc., are virtuous. Moreover, no matter how much white virtuous action is accumulated while being grasped by the three supreme ones, it only produces the result of happiness for gods and humans, and eventually it will be exhausted, so it is virtuous action in accordance with merit. Conversely, being grasped by the three higher ones is in accordance with liberation, it becomes the cause of enlightenment. Actions that contradict both of these, virtuous actions mixed with the motivation of the three poisons, also cause suffering such as the lower realms. Root text: Just as fire burns what it ignites, if seeking an antidote, there is nothing other than water, those who deceive and abandon the Three Jewels, it is difficult to find a sin equal to it. This means: Like fire
