Just as Mongoli, who walked on the sand, turned around and preached the Dharma, and attained the state of an Arhat. Therefore, the Buddha said that among all perceptions, the most supreme is the contemplation of impermanence, so one should strive diligently. The key to opening the door of the treasury of precious qualities, a concise commentary on the "Treasury of Precious Qualities," a precious key like a drop of water from the ocean, the second chapter ends. Chapter Three: The Establishment of Karma, Cause, and Effect. The third general topic is the establishment of cause and effect. Root text: Those who are born in the next world, by what kind of rope are they bound? Only by practicing virtue and being accustomed to evil do they draw near. The conventional truth is without deception. This means that those who die, that is, leave their bodies behind, and whose minds go from the intermediate state to any of the six realms, are not like those who hold wrong views and believe that the mind is annihilated like a extinguished candle, nor do they reach high or low states by chance. Rather, like the unfailing interdependence, by what kind of rope are they bound to high or low states? Only by practicing virtue and being accustomed to evil in this life do they draw near to the next rebirth. This is the truth of the conventional, diverse phenomena, without deception. Root text: Whatever seeds of various kinds are sown, as is clear to the farmers, in other lives, having become familiar and accustomed to them, by many actions this world is made diverse. This means that whatever seeds are sown, the fruits are also the same. For example, if wheat is sown, wheat will grow. If beans, buckwheat, etc., are sown, they will ripen into their respective fruits. Similarly, whatever virtuous or non-virtuous actions are performed in this life, happiness or suffering will manifest in the next life. Like the crops of farmers, the quality of the seeds, the sweetness or bitterness of the taste, etc., whatever the former is, the latter will also appear in the same way. Moreover, in other lives, having become familiar and accustomed to whatever virtuous or non-virtuous actions, by many actions, such as striving for virtue while enjoying happiness and abundance now because of virtuous actions, and suffering from poverty and incomplete faculties now because of being accustomed to non-virtuous actions in the past, experiencing the painful results of evil, and still engaging in many evil deeds that are the cause of suffering, falling from lower to lower, etc., these beings are made diverse. Root text: High ground

The soaring hawk that flies away, Its shadow is temporarily unseen, Like being separated from tangible things, When gathered, when the time is ripe, it becomes even more apparent. This means that above the earth is the sky, where it flies with the skill of its wings. When vultures and others reach a very high place, their shadows are also temporarily unseen. But just as anything tangible is separated, whatever good or evil is done in this life accompanies the body like a shadow. When landing, just as one gathers together with one's own shadow, even if one is impure, no matter where one is born in the six realms, when gathering, that is, when the time comes to take rebirth, the fruits of good and evil will become even more apparent. Root verse: Non-virtuous deeds are like the fire of a horse's face, They can also dry up the waves of the heavenly realm, The metaphor and meaning of destroying the ship of omniscience, The Hundred Deeds and the Great Play have explained. This means that non-virtuous deeds are those that belong to the ten non-virtuous actions. The metaphor for their faults is: the great outer ocean is extremely vast and difficult to destroy, but just as the fire in the sky of a horse's face can dry it up, the power of non-virtue can reduce the happiness of the heavenly realm like the waves of the great ocean. Moreover, it can also destroy the body like a ship sailing to the land of omniscience. The All-Knowing One has explained these two metaphors and meanings in scriptures such as the Hundred Deeds Sutra and the Great Play Sutra, such as Maudgalyāyana's son being killed by the Parivrājakas, the emaciated saint dying of starvation due to lack of food, and the Bhikṣuṇī Utpalavarna being killed by Devadatta. Since non-virtuous karma can hinder rebirth in the heavenly realm, what need is there to say that it will certainly hinder the attainment of the fruits of the Śrāvakas and Pratyekabuddhas? Root verse: The hells, which are extremely brave in suffering, The realm of warriors with the strong arms of the ten virtues, Not shattered by the arrows of war, But all broken vows are under your control. Some people's discipline, some people's lives and life force, Some people's asceticism, some people's Dharma and wealth, Some people's shame, some people's sense of honor, Giving up for the sake of sin is extremely common. This means being extremely brave in suffering, that is, having brave strength.
