This is the truth. This means that, like the reflection of the moon appearing in a pond, the conventional phenomena appearing to eye consciousness, although false, are not the real moon. Therefore, in the ultimate truth, the appearances of the six consciousnesses are equally merged with emptiness, and the self-nature emptiness of these emptinesses, like the arising of the moon's birth appearing in the pond just mentioned, is the conventional truth from the perspective of appearance, and the non-establishment of self-nature is the ultimate truth, which is repeatedly explained. Root verse: The consciousness of the five objects is like a rainbow that does not mix, grasping the parts of form and other sensual pleasures, clinging to them, cutting off and establishing thoughts, illusions like eight examples of illusion should be carefully examined. It means that the five objects are form, sound, smell, taste, and touch. When the mind is invested in them, it distinguishes them separately, and the consciousness of illusion that arises from cutting off and establishing thoughts, like the unmixed rainbow pattern, grasps the parts of form and other sensual pleasures. For these, clinging to this, all parts of cutting off, establishing, and thinking should be regarded as illusions, like the eight metaphors of illusion. If one can skillfully use them, one can transcend the city of samsara and approach the land of liberation. Root verse: If the ultimate wisdom can be thoroughly observed, then it is not the ultimate truth, because wisdom is conventional. The contradictory one and many, their nature, never dwells in the realm of wisdom. It means that if the ultimate truth can be thoroughly observed by wisdom, then it is not the ultimate truth, because wisdom is a conventional illusion. If it is certain that there is not a single real substance, how can there be many? If all contradictory characteristics are completely denied, then they have never existed in the realm of wisdom, just like companions in a dream. Root verse: Briefly speaking about the establishment of tenets, analyzing the ultimate truth with wisdom, smashing the ultimate of things with a hammer, indivisible atoms are the tenets of the Hearer's school. It means that if the position of the tenets is briefly explained, then among the Hearers' schools, the Vaibhashika and Sautrantika, the first does not admit self-awareness, nor even admit nominal terms, and entering the Lesser Vehicle path is the Vaibhashika school. They believe that the Dharma as the basis is knowledge.

In terms of ultimate truth, mental analysis and the smashing of objects with hammers, etc., which are considered ultimate truth, cannot harm it. This is because the continuum of consciousness and coarse objects are momentary for conventional consciousness, while the indivisible particles of objects are considered ultimate truth. In this way, when an object appears in the form of gold, silver, copper, iron, earth, stone, etc., and the form of matter, the thought arises, "This is this, and that is that." However, when the substance is smashed into particles by tools such as hammers or anvils, the thought of analysis no longer exists, so the coarse consciousness that clings to it ceases, which is what is to be observed. Ultimate truth refers to phenomena that cannot be abandoned by the clinging to self, even when smashed by extremely fine particles or destroyed by rational analysis. These are considered to be ultimately real objects, such as indivisible particles, indivisible moments of consciousness, and unconditioned phenomena. Among them, conventional truth and imputation are considered to be the same, while ultimate truth and reality are also considered to be the same. This school refutes the self of the person claimed by the non-Buddhists and acknowledges selflessness. Furthermore, since the three times are also considered to be real and things, they will not become non-existent, etc., which are coarse. The Kashmiri Vaibhashikas are similar to the Sautrantikas, except that they acknowledge the continuum of karma. Regarding the stages of the path, they only establish the stages of the five paths by focusing on the sixteen aspects of the four noble truths, such as impermanence, etc., and do not acknowledge the stages of the ten bhumis. In short, one who has generated the thought and practice of the Lesser Vehicle in their mindstream is a follower of the Lesser Vehicle; one who has generated the thought and practice of the Great Vehicle in their mindstream is a follower of the Great Vehicle. If neither of these has been generated in the mindstream, then one is neither. Among them, the Vaibhashika of the Lesser Vehicle believes that consciousness is divided into mind and mental factors; the objects are the five sense objects of form, sound, smell, taste, and touch; the five consciousnesses of these five objects, and the ten non-associated compositional factors such as arising and ceasing; space and the two cessations, which are the three unconditioned phenomena; and past and future objects are each substantially existent, and they believe that they have a real component. However, they believe that objects of knowledge and objects of continuity, etc., are not real. Among them, the Kashmiri Vaibhashikas, etc., believe that conditioned phenomena are destroyed in an instant.
