So it is. The Chinese texts are kept in the Treasure Island Then, King Trisong Detsen (ཁྲི་སྲོང་ལྡེའུ་བཙན་) thought: "All the quotations from the scriptures given by the masters Padmasambhava (པདྨ་) and Shantarakshita (ཞི་འཚོ་) must be spread in Tibet (བོད་)." Thereupon, Nubchen Sangye Yeshe (གནུབས་བན་ནམ་མཁའི་སྙིང་པོ་), Druk Gu Ebag Sha (གྲུ་གུ་ཨེ་བག་ཤ་), Lang Pal Seng (རླངས་དཔལ་སེང་), Rugyong Vidyaraja (རུ་གྱོང་བིཏྱཱ་རཱ་ཛ་), and E Bande (འབྲེའི་བན་དེ), Gyalwai Lodro (རྒྱལ་བའི་བློ་གྲོས་), these five were each given a bre (measure) of gold dust and sent to India to seek the Dharma of secret mantras. They took on hardships and eventually arrived in a place called Kamarupa (ཀ་མ་རུ་པ་) in the east, where they met a beautiful woman and asked her: "Are there any accomplished masters of Mahayana secret mantras in this place?" The woman replied: "In a place called Golden Rock Garuda Grove (གསེར་བྲག་བྱ་ཁྱུང་ཚལ་), there is a great master called Humchen Kara (ཧཱུཾ་ཆེན་ཀཱ་ར་)." The five translators went to Golden Rock Garuda Grove and offered gold to the attendant Sogyadeva (སོ་ཀྱ་དེ་བཞེས་བྱ་), requesting him to inform the master that they had been sent by the king of Tibet to request the Dharma. The attendant replied that the master was residing in the nine-storied treasury and that he could not lead them in, but they could try to go in themselves and might have a chance to meet him. As he said, he opened the doors of the nine stories, and they went inside, prostrated, and offered gold, saying: "Great master, please listen for a moment. We have come here for this reason. The king of Tibet wishes to attain enlightenment in one lifetime and one body, and he has sent us to seek the Dharma of secret mantras. Please, great master, have compassion and accept us." The master replied: "The king of Tibet is of the Bodhisattva lineage, and it is wonderful that he is so diligent in the Dharma. It is also certain that your coming here and meeting me is due to past aspirations. Therefore, it is necessary to give you empowerment first." He then began to prepare for the profound empowerment. This profound secret mantra empowerment is very important and meaningful. Without empowerment, it is not permissible to teach, listen to, or practice secret mantras, he said.
