Diligent effort, and through its power, in the path of application, the power of samadhi of shamatha and vipashyana is stabilized, and the path of liberation is manifestly opened, which is known as the meditation that fully reveals meaning. The initial stage, that is, the samadhi of the noble ones, is the part of the alaya-vijnana that is unindicated, namely the four dhyanas and the four formless absorptions. Because it is without outflows, it is the Tathagata's virtuous meditation, and its essence is to repeatedly hold the mind within with mindfulness. The cause of accomplishing these is continuous mindfulness, that is, when the five faculties, etc., of the diligent one who does not relax mindfulness are distracted by objects, they are brought back again. Its function is to generate happiness in body and mind, and to accomplish miracles within the limits of one's own ability. The result is the attainment of the sravaka's direct perception, etc. That is what is said. The preparatory stage or preparation for the first dhyana is to contemplate any experience of bliss, clarity, or non-conceptuality, thinking "What is this?", and merely examining its nature. When it is absorbed into that, and the actual stage is reached, there is no contemplation, but only the joy and happiness of examination. The remaining three dhyanas gradually abandon attachment to their own positions, and in the fourth dhyana, nothing is kept in mind, that is, there is neither contemplation nor examination. That is what is said. Furthermore, what is meant by "the former by the former" is that the first dhyana is associated with the second dhyana, joy and happiness, and complete association with the first dhyana. The second dhyana is associated with the third dhyana, happiness, equanimity, mindfulness, and awareness. The third dhyana is associated with the fourth dhyana, neither suffering nor happiness, equanimity, and the fourth dhyana, which is associated with equanimity and mindfulness, is the near-attainment of the latter, and is known as the basis of the noble path. To this, the meditation that generates all qualities is that which is grasped by skillful means, great compassion, and wisdom. Therefore, it possesses many samadhis, accomplishes the meaning of all forms, and abandons the subtle grasper and grasped, as well as the attachment of equipoise and subsequent attainment, in which wisdom and things are one. The vast conduct of subsequent attainment that arises from equipoise exists in all up to the seventh bhumi. This is the view of the predecessors. Thus, the meditation that is practiced by people.

The sequence has been explained. The definitive discernment of the higher training in wisdom is that all samādhis arise from the practice of meditation, or the wisdom that arises from the real and the subsequent, or the wisdom that arises from hearing, thinking, and meditating. In order to accomplish the three kinds of perfect insight, through its meaning, the collection of afflictions is destroyed, and the Dharma and the nature of Dharma are known, that is, the conventional truth. Passing from the city of existence without sorrow, and the six perfections such as generosity also enter into differences from higher to higher, therefore relying on the perfection of wisdom is supreme. Moreover, here, until one has not transcended the stage of an ordinary being, if one does not rely on the wisdom arising from hearing, the qualities of thinking and meditation will not abide, because one will wander on the path of obstacles and deviations. Therefore, the wisdom of hearing is said to be the cause of all. The measurable Dharma, that is, the twelve divisions of scripture, and the names of the eighty-four thousand aggregates of Dharma, also need to be measured by the three wisdoms of measurement, that is, it is necessary to measure the two kinds of straight meaning and definitive meaning, and the hidden meaning and the four intentions. That is to say, the nature of all dharmas, that is, suchness, is the nature of non-proliferation and non-discrimination. The door of liberation, emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness, abiding in the three is the definitive meaning. The dharmas, that is, entering the path of conventional appearance, therefore, after measuring with wisdom, adding like this, like that, is the straight path. Like this, with the two, what should be trusted and what should not be trusted regarding the straight meaning and the definitive meaning? That is to say, knowing for certain what the two are for, that is the key to viewing all the scriptures. In order to clearly explain the nature of those, and in order to realize the intention of the meaning, the two kinds of having intention and hidden intention are explained. The first kind of having intention is that, by adding a little, it can also be explained a little, not only for the sake of temporarily guiding the objects to be tamed, and saying to a person who commits a great sin, your action seems to be good for the abundance of food and enjoyment, thus causing him to have a little doubt, this is only having intention, and the purpose is to return from sin.
