What is meant by "corresponding to what is known and functioning accordingly" is that things like the sun and moon, and lamps, dispel darkness, and that horses and cattle can be ridden and used to carry loads, and so on. This is the true conventional truth. On the other hand, images of lamps, suns, moons, and vehicles in paintings appear, but do not function like the true conventional truth. This is known as the false conventional truth. The ultimate truth is the nature of one's own mind, the way it abides in its essence, that is, the two dharmas of samsara and nirvana are not two in essence. From the very beginning, it is a nature beyond thought and expression, free from elaboration. Realize that, and do not grasp at "realization" as good, nor at "non-realization" as bad. Therefore, the two truths are the apparent conventional truth and the empty ultimate truth, the union of appearance and emptiness, like the arising of the moon in water. From the aspect of appearance, it is the conventional truth, and the fact that the image of the moon has no inherent existence is the ultimate truth. The consciousness of the five objects is the consciousness of the eye, ear, nose, tongue, and body. They are like colors, like a rainbow, with unmixed colors, each grasping the enjoyment of the five desires, such as form, sound, smell, taste, and touch. Grasping at this and that, these illusory appearances of discriminating thoughts of affirmation and negation must be regarded as the eight similes of illusion. That is, all forms that appear in the object of eye consciousness should be regarded as illusions, cataracts, and mirages. The loudness of sounds in the object of ear consciousness should be like an echo in a valley. Smells in the object of nose consciousness, tastes in the object of tongue consciousness, and touches that appear in the object of body consciousness should be regarded as illusions, dreams, lightning, and clouds. The dharmas that appear in the three times in the object of mind consciousness should be examined and endured with discriminating thoughts of consciousness, like the moon in water and bubbles. Because it is not ultimate, and because consciousness is the nature of conventional illusion, even if one says that the nature of one's own mind is one, it cannot be established, nor is it many. Therefore, the various characteristics that are even more contradictory than the former are that they have never existed in the object of consciousness, but appear as if they exist. This is merely the doing of consciousness.

These are not beyond that. In short, the classification of tenets is that the so-called "ultimate of knowledge," even if examined with reason from beginning to end, cannot establish a real characteristic such as "this." The so-called "obtaining the ultimate of things, destroying," refers to whatever form, large or small, is hammered and ground with a hammer and anvil that matches it, and when it becomes indivisible dust, the Sravaka schools consider it the ultimate truth. And whatever has the ability to function is the true conventional truth here. They believe that other than these, there is no object with real characteristics, but it exists from the aspect of its essence not being empty. Others believe that conventional dharmas have objects and characteristics. This can also be explained by the definitions of self-characteristic and general characteristic. For example, the object of manifestation is the ability to function that appears in the objects of the five senses, and these are the true conventional truths, which are considered to be pervaded by self-characteristics, and are not distinguished separately. Self-characteristic, object, and ultimate truth, these true conventional truths are coextensive. In the object of conceptualization, the general characteristic appears as a false conventional truth. The general characteristic, the non-existent dharma, and the conventional truth, these indivisible dusts that the Sravakas consider to be the ultimate truth, are considered to be coextensive. These are roughly the views of the Sutra school, and in essence, they are in accordance with logic. Appearing as the two, grasper and grasped, that is, the grasped is the self of phenomena, and the grasper is the self of person, the objects that appear as the two are the five senses and the consciousness as the possessor of objects. This is the conventional truth, and from it, the dharmas are understood to be non-dual, which is considered the ultimate truth, which is the tenet of the Mind-Only school. Just as everything that appears as the object of the six aggregates is established in a conventional way, with the characteristic of illusion. In the ultimate sense, nothing is established in any way, like the sky, which is the view of the Svatantrika Madhyamaka school. Thus, appearance itself is the conventional truth, and emptiness is the ultimate truth, and any designation of terms is free from the extremes of elaboration. At the same time of appearance, there is no birth, cessation, going, or coming. And the conventional dharmas that are considered to be substantially existent and dependent.
