If great things can be accomplished, then in terms of precepts, there can be some leniency. For the sake of harmony in the city, one can abandon the village; to protect oneself, one can give up one's dwelling place and go to another place; to prevent harm to one's body, speech, and mind, one would not hesitate to give up one's life. If someone says this place is not good, one can endure any suffering or happiness, like the earth, to protect the fragrance of the Dharma from declining, and endure various hardships for the sake of the Dharma; one can endure the oppression that is difficult for others to bear without any concern; regarding profound teachings, one should not be afraid or give up, thinking that this is a very difficult place to understand, these are the three (kinds of patience). Those who are terrified of falling into the black prison of inescapable hell, entangled by vines darker than the darkness of the manifestation of sin, which is the extremely rigid anger and hatred in the mind, should never give an opportunity for anger, this is a summary of the opposing factors of patience. Moreover, the object of harm is like a forest covered with thorns, it is impossible to subdue them one by one, and even if some are subdued, they will revive and spread everywhere. Therefore, the sole creator of resentment and anger is self-grasping, and if self-grasping is subdued, then the asceticism of patience is the true cause of Nirvana, therefore, self-grasping will become friendly to oneself. Like this, the extremely rough contact, the sting of the arrow of words such as anger, hatred, and complaints piercing the heart of a person, even if it does not pierce, due to the fault of accepting the proximate cause of harsh words, both the dependent and the depended upon will suffer as if they were disturbed. In this time when the power of the affairs of this life is strong, the causes and consequences of harm are limitless, which often happens and arises from oneself, for example, just as sound and words do not come from a rock crevice unless sound and words come from one's own mouth. If it arises from oneself, then there is no object of harm, so first one speaks hateful words, etc., and then is suddenly called by an unexpected factor, and if one examines it carefully, it is not a great harm, but a great benefit, it is a place to cultivate patience.

Relying on any harmful actions, making the nature of patience, like boats and rafts, as a help, thereby obtaining the precious jewel of Bodhicitta. Therefore, transforming such temporary harm into the ultimate, unchanging great bliss is like offering to the sacred Dharma. If not examined, it seems that there is an inherent harm, but if examined deeply, it is found that the essence of harm is emptiness, the nature is clear, and it is merely that the power has not ceased, without any characteristics, like ripples in water, only slightly revealing annoyance, frowning, roughness, i.e., an unpleasant face. In the moment of disappearing or vanishing, the self-nature on which it depends cannot be established, and it becomes completely empty like the sky, without gain or loss. In general, in any case, if the three asceticisms of patience decline, then the other five Paramitas, such as generosity, are also like external conditions, i.e., like the road for guests to go out, the path surrounded by enemies, it is difficult to reach the desired state, i.e., the state of liberation and omniscience, so it is called the power of wisdom. To generate the supreme mind, it is crucial to practice the three types of patience. With diligence that does not miss even a moment of time, without relying on the power of others, in a state of autonomy, all virtuous Dharmas are like swans happily walking in a garden, diligently engaging in the three, such as hearing, thinking, and meditating, and constantly using the three types of diligence to avoid the cliff of laziness, i.e., not forgetting, quickly engaging with a joyful mind, which is crucial. However, being entangled by things like the eight worldly Dharmas and the noise of attachment to "I" and "mine", being suppressed by the power of laziness, even abandoning the initial ability to enter the door of Dharma, i.e., the ability to combine, and belittling oneself, taking on the behavior of discouragement, such a person is called a ship of sin, i.e., like boats and the like about to capsize, riding on it is a derogatory statement. If it is not like this, but putting on the armor-like diligence that subdues the Maras, walking and progressing on the path of the ten Bhumis, i.e., the diligence of combining, and not being arrogant, i.e., not being arrogant because of many good deeds, not despising those with few good deeds, and not retreating, i.e., for the Dharma that has been practiced, not being satisfied with not reaching the ultimate, finally completing it, then one is diligent.
