To generate these two, one should strive diligently as if receiving them from the guru, and at the peak of aspiration, may it become the cause of all dharmas, which is benefit. This is the first statement of aspiration, the second entering, and the third obtaining stability in both. This is the supreme Dharma approved by Paṇḍita Ocean of Clouds. Such a precious Bodhisattva's training, not to mention obtaining it for the sake of others in the past, I had never even dreamed of it for my own sake. By means of this extraordinary and wonderful novelty of the precious mind, although I previously valued obtaining a human body, by taking the training of generating Bodhicitta, I have made existence priceless. What is the decline from lineage? In the past, a lame prince wandered in the great street, wandering among the ranks of beggars, and later, relying on the sight and hearing of others, he was found and immediately brought before the former king, and with a bathing ceremony, every part of his body was washed clean, fumigated with incense, and enthroned on the king's throne. Similarly, the source of lineage and ancestry, having obtained the position of a monk superior to the king, just as from this day forward he becomes the son of all victors, obtaining such a rare and wonderful crown of the name of a Bodhisattva, this is the most excellent attainment. That is to say, even having become the lord of the three realms, and the great lords of the gods, and bestowing upon them power and wealth, or like a king ordained by heaven, ruling the great earth according to Dharma, etc., if one delights in hanging the banners of delusion, then compared to those, obtaining the state of a noble Bodhisattva in an inconceivable way, if it is only today, the vine of joy will fall to the ground, like someone who has never begged before begins to beg, and even the gods will take sides. Like an inexhaustible treasure of nectar that destroys the armies of the Lord of Death, and like a wish-fulfilling jewel that eliminates poverty, and like the supreme medicine of nectar that pacifies diseases, because it is a resting place for weary travelers who have long walked the path of existence, therefore, from today on, may I become the supreme prosperity and perfection of all sentient beings. Thus it is said. Chapter on the Treasury of Qualities.

This concludes the concise commentary on the eighth chapter. Chapter Nine. Furthermore, if one has not properly examined beforehand and carelessly abandons the vows of a Bodhisattva's training with reckless behavior, and if there is still doubt in the mind, then by the power of the great wisdom of the Buddhas and their heirs, one will surely examine and investigate, and whatever is said about what should be accepted and abandoned, if one abandons that, one deceives all sentient beings, then the endless evil realms are the three lower realms, and one will wander in them. Therefore, even if it means destroying the happiness and well-being of one sentient being, one should not do anything that would cause oneself to degenerate or harm others. Similarly, regarding falling from taking the Bodhisattva's vows, and how one who possesses both Bodhicitta and strength alternates in the cycle of existence, that is, sometimes in the three higher realms and sometimes in the three lower realms, etc., one must take birth, and if it takes a long time to attain the Bodhisattva's stages, then the person who abandons the Mahayana precepts is an incurable madman. If the cause and effect of harm have already manifested, and even for a small amount of food, one immediately retaliates with anger and pride, and if one can endure being cut by weapons such as swords and spears, and does not turn one's face away until one has achieved the goal of suppressing the enemy, then one should at all times engage in battle with the powerful army of eighty-four thousand afflictions, such as the three poisons, which have become one's enemies, and until one destroys them with the ritual of retaliation, that is, with the power of antidotal meditation, one vows not to abandon the ascetic practice of guarding the precepts. If people in this world, imprisoned in the prison of afflictions, cannot even recognize their own abilities, then how can one liberate all beings from that, and how can the unwavering Mahayana ascetic practice of saving beings from the ocean of karma and afflictions be diminished? Therefore, guarding the precepts of Bodhicitta is of great benefit, but if people are close to breaking their vows due to weak karma and merit, then they should repeatedly take the vows by their own power and repair what is broken, and the carelessness of the three doors of body, speech, and mind.
