Its nature is the sacred Dharma, and the Dharma arises from the teacher. To accomplish it, the support for practice or learning is the Sangha. Therefore, the Three Jewels are established as the supreme refuge. Among them, regarding the vows of refuge of cause and effect, the lesser person will not fall into the three lower realms, the intermediate person will not fall into any high or low state of samsara, and the great person is able to place beings in the state of Buddhahood. This is the refuge of cause, desiring future accomplishment. When it is thus accomplished, the reality of one's own mind, the essence of emptiness, is the Buddha; the self-luminous nature is the Dharma; and great compassion pervades as the Sangha. Because it is the refuge of effect, it is a characteristic of the Vajrayana. Although the object of the refuge of cause is the Three Jewels, in mantra, its nature is gathered in the Lama. From the three motivations of temporary excellence and unsurpassedness, the lesser person is one who, fearing the suffering of the lower realms, goes until the attainment of the state of higher rebirth. The intermediate Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas, fearing the suffering of existence and peace, seek liberation, temporarily for as long as they live, and ultimately until they attain the fruit of Shravakas and Pratyekabuddhas. The great person, fearing attachment to peace by abandoning the benefit of others, goes until enlightenment in order to liberate beings in samsara to the state of omniscience. This is not something other than one's own mind, and there is neither fear of losing refuge nor hope of gaining refuge in it. It is the refuge of effect, abandoning deception. When traveling the path, the compassion of the Buddhas towards the realms of sentient beings is unceasing, and even the qualities of a single pore of a Buddha cannot be exhausted, showing that it rises into the sky and is immeasurable, like birds making the sky their path to find the end, not reaching the limit of accomplishment, and returning to their own place. Here, the wheel of samsara refers to repeatedly experiencing the various high and low states of the six realms, and those who are flawed by the fault of accumulating bad karma, like the wheel-turning kings of humans and the great Ishvara.

Etc., with the arrogance of power and strength, seeing other protections as deceptive. Generating fear of the suffering of samsara, having faith in the benefits of liberation, and having compassion for all beings, generating the mind for the sake of others through these three ways. With the intention of a great being, taking refuge by remembering the qualities of the Three Jewels. How is it? Just as the sky is immeasurable, the karmic results of white virtuous actions and black sinful actions based on the Three Jewels cannot be measured, so it is said extensively. If this refuge had substance and form, it would not fit inside the container of the sky and would not be able to be relied upon, so it is said. Thus, the benefit of taking refuge is entering the ranks of Buddhist followers, becoming the basis of all vows, all sins and obscurations will be exhausted, like abandoning the side of harm. One will be protected from falling into the abyss of bad migrations, will not be separated from the Three Jewels, and will come to see the perfection of happiness and well-being in this life. One will complete the accumulation of merit, and undoubtedly achieve the state of the two form bodies, namely the Sambhogakaya and Nirmanakaya. The refuge of the result that transcends the cause, the infallible, is the door to liberation, namely emptiness, signlessness, and wishlessness. These are cultivated repeatedly in the state of the Dharmakaya free from elaboration, and enlightenment in the realm of wishlessness is the unchanging nature of Vajra. Its fruit is the accumulation of wisdom, namely the two purities, the purity from the beginning and the attainment of the state of purifying temporary stains. Furthermore, the precepts are divided into two: cause and effect. The first is like having the reward of possessing dominion, wealth, enjoyment, and perfection, etc., abandoning following the Three Jewels and instead following outsiders or arrogant worldly people, engaging in non-virtuous actions. No matter how much reward is given, one should not abandon refuge for these reasons, let alone abandon the Three Jewels for the sake of life. So it is said. Its essence is that after taking refuge in the Lama, one should abandon black dharmas such as deceiving the holy ones and spreading bad names. Similarly, for the Buddha and the Dharma
