Those who regard Maheśvara (the Great Lord) as the supreme deity, such as the Maheśvaras or Īśvaras (the Lords), and the Kālikas (those who speak of time), each claim various merits for their respective deities. For example, the Īśvaras claim that Īśvara has various merits: the ability to become subtle, the ability to gather and expand the elements, the ability to be light, the ability to be praised by all, the ownership of all lords, everything being under his control, the ability to go anywhere as desired, the ability to fulfill any wish with a mere blink of an eye, and the ability to be content with whatever is desired, possessing these eight merits, and believing that he creates everything. They say: 'The one and subtle being, residing in all beings; he creates and destroys everything. He is the supreme god, worthy of worship. By doing good, one can attain great peace.' 'Does this creator have consciousness? I cannot independently decide my own happiness and suffering. Whether Īśvara throws me off a cliff or sends me to heaven, I can only go along with it.' The Kālikas, on the other hand, proclaim the merits of time: 'Time dissolves all things, time gathers beings, time makes people sleep and awaken, therefore time is difficult to surpass.' They believe that time creates everything, and therefore it is difficult to surpass. Similarly, we should also examine the merits of the water god, Vaiśravaṇa's son, Kāmadeva's son, the sun, and the moon, etc. The followers of the Sāṃkhya school do not acknowledge the merits of deities, but they believe that everything originates from Prakṛti (nature), therefore they consider nature to be the root of everything. They believe that all knowledge can be reduced to twenty-five categories, and those who do not understand these categories suffer in saṃsāra (cyclic existence), while those who understand them attain liberation. Those who aspire to attain the eternal status of Brahmā (the Great Brahma) are the Brāhmaṇas (Brahmins) and the followers of the Vedas. The Vaiśeṣikas (Particularists) believe that after the destruction of the world, the minute, indivisible atoms of the four elements (earth, water, fire, and wind) are eternal, and the great Īśvara uses them to create the world. Due to the karma of sentient beings, the wind combines two atoms together, and three atoms combine to form a 'binary aggregate'. When an object is struck, the atoms gather together, forming a wind wheel. Similarly, the wheels of water, earth, and fire are also formed. In the center of these wheels, a huge, radiant Brahma egg bursts open, and Brahmā, the progenitor of the world, is born from a lotus, with four faces, sitting on the lotus. ], "english_translations": [ 'They believe that \'all worlds are emanations\'. Or, as just stated, these three encompass all the non-Buddhists.', 'The disciples of the great sage Kapila (迦毗罗), the Samkhyas (数论派), believe that all things arise from the state of emptiness, therefore emptiness is the creator. I know that person. Knowing him, there is no fear of death. For liberation, there is no other path.\' They believe that the five senses and the twenty categories are associated with the self.
