I offered a 'bre' (Tibetan unit of measurement, here referring to a bre of gold) to the Indian Khakthung Nakpo (Black Blood Drinker), requesting his powerful disease mantra. He said he didn't want the gold 'bre', but wanted the secret of your sharp insight (rno mthong, sharp observation) and clairvoyance (mngon shes, supernatural cognition). I offered the secret and requested the mantra, and Khakthung Nakpo said: 'In my tradition, this one mantra can cure hundreds of diseases. It is a fierce mantra that can subdue demons, and even spitting on it works. Others have never even heard of its name, and cannot find it even if they search. Remember this mantra, and you can achieve it by diligent practice. I will give it to you, keep it in your heart.' This mantra is as effective as a diamond for all kinds of diseases, wounds, swellings, poxes, eye diseases, parasitic diseases, as well as plagues, madness, infectious diseases, etc. It is especially effective for fever (gnyan, febrile disease) and nine types of abscesses (lhog pa spun dgu, nine types of abscesses). These eight razor-sharp sentences are the correct writing of the mantra of 'Sod' (sod, severance) and 'Rbad' (rbad, strike) seven times. Because this is a fierce mantra, there is no need to visualize. Observe silence, focus, abandon doubt, and then recite. For plagues, infectious diseases, and epidemics, bless with garlic, Guggul, and black juniper. For head lice and other parasites, cherish blessing with three-fruit soup (thang phrom spun gsum, soup of three medicinal materials). For poxes, swellings, and goiter diseases, bless with the heart of arthritis, musk, and pills of pigeons and sparrows, and black poison. If the ingredients are not complete, mantra water is also sufficient. It can be taken internally or applied to the back. According to the need, carefully consider. If blessed with nine black medicines, it is as effective as a razor for fever and abscesses.' This is the practice method of Lama Tashi Palden (bkra shis dpal ldan, personal name) of Me Nyag (me nyag, place name) Rabgang (rab sgang, place name).
