So, such a meaning is that the practitioner's wisdom lies in observing their own self-aware wisdom, placing it before them, and experiencing it firsthand. Having placed one's mind in such a true state, one should then practice through the knowledge of the true nature of the deity or the true nature of the mantra, just as the six deities mentioned above. In this way, when the mind is focused on the appearance of the deity, one will eventually effortlessly abide in the non-conceptual, clear samadhi. This is what is called 'mind focused on the appearance of the deity'. Regarding how to gather the mind, and the detailed explanation including the limb of recitation: Gathering the life-force, effort, and mindfulness, the complete gathering of these two is called 'gathering life-force and effort'. Recitation should be done in conjunction with this.' As it is said in other tantras, such as the Ornament of Clear Realization: 'Life is said to be wind, effort is said to be mindfulness. Having gathered the two, recite one hundred thousand times.' As it is said, life is the mount of the moving of discursive thoughts—wind. Just as a tortoise retracts its body and a tongue sips water, gather inward the winds flowing through the gates of the senses such as the eyes and ears, and the subtle places such as pores, stopping the entry and exit of breath. Effort, in this context, refers to mindfulness, which is to stop all the efforts and movements of the mind, so that it does not deviate from the object of focus. Therefore, this is called 'gathering life-force and effort'. In other cases, life refers to the movement of wind being stopped by effort, and the wind being bound in its own place, thereby achieving immortality, which is called 'gathering life-force'. However, in this context, it should be understood as above. Explaining the suchness of recitation through a corresponding method: the sound of the letters of the mantra, the essence of bodhicitta—the pure mandala of the moon, and the initial contemplation of the Tathagata in front. When these are stable, it is called the 'unchanging basis'. For other bases, it can also be called the 'unchanging basis' by making them stable. Alternatively, it can be directly called the 'unchanging basis', because the latter basis is contemplating oneself as the deity, and one's own suchness is also like that. The word 'unchanging' actually refers to the four limbs appearing and being stable at the same time. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Therefore, what becomes the basis of immutability is said to be the immutability of mantra. Thus, the sound of mantra, the Bodhicitta (enlightenment mind) moon mandala, and the basis of contemplating oneself and the deity as one—these two, possessing the four limbs, are the reality of recitation that does not lack limbs. Therefore, one should strive to recite the secret mantra itself as much as possible in such a manner, either silently or in a low voice. As it is said in the Manifestation of Enlightenment: 'Letters combine with letters, likewise, basis becomes basis. In an extremely tranquil mind, one should perform a hundred thousand recitations.' Letter is Bodhicitta, the second is called sound. The basis is establishing one's own deity, in the place of one's own body. The second basis is the complete Buddha, one should know these two as supreme. In the pure moon mandala, the mantra practitioner should contemplate residing there. The letters are arranged in order, well placed in its center. Again, suppress it with words of gathering, purify breath and effort.' Thus, although it has been said in various tantras that without verbal recitation, mantras can be accomplished and liberation through yoga can be attained through the door of meditation alone, this tantra clearly shows which limb should be focused on for recitation, and how to perform silent and low-voiced recitation. Therefore, it is also named the 'Later Tantra of Meditation.' Thus, the reciter who clearly visualizes in the yoga of their own deity should focus on the string of secret mantra letters arranged in the pure moon mandala, which is the nature of Bodhicitta, in the heart of the Thus-Gone One residing in front of them, restraining the breath and reciting. Thus, these four bases—sound, mind, self, and deity—are the basis for the arising of accomplishments, hence they are called the four bases. The basis of self is called the basis because these phenomena of aggregates such as mind and mental factors are the basis for ordinary beings to perceive as self and other. Here, it refers to the nature of self, other, and deity, which becomes the very basis for the arising of accomplishments. If these four are complete and not separated from Samadhi (concentration), then the limbs of the mantra are not deficient; if separated, they are deficient. It is said that one should not abandon the aim of contemplating the first three limbs as the basis of the deity in front, and without abandoning the pride of one's own basis, one should abide in a state where the four bases are simultaneously clear. If one becomes tired, then abandon the focus on oneself, the deity in front, and the mantra, and think of one's body as ordinary, rise and rest, and refresh yourself. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
