Or appearing as the Tathāgata (Tathāgata, Sanskrit, tathāgata, literally: one who has come thus) or as the eldest son, such as Mañjuśrī (Mañjuśrī, Sanskrit, mañjuśrī, literally: gentle glory), Avalokiteśvara (Avalokiteśvara, Sanskrit, avalokiteśvara, literally: the lord who looks down with compassion), or Vajrapāṇi (Vajrapāṇi, Sanskrit, vajrapāṇi, literally: the one who holds the vajra). Like the Dharmadhātu (Dharmadhātu, Sanskrit, dharmadhātu, literally: the realm of dharma) and the great wisdom (Mahājñāna, Sanskrit, mahājñāna, literally: great wisdom) that is non-dual, manifesting as the form of a symbolic mudrā (Mudra, Sanskrit, mudrā, literally: seal), and the sound of mantra (Mantra, Sanskrit, mantra, literally: that which protects the mind), and the appearance of mudrās (Mudra, Sanskrit, mudrā, literally: seal), such as lotuses. The nature of the deity (Deva, Sanskrit, deva, literally: god) that is the object of contemplation can be divided into three types: the form deity, the sound deity, and the ultimate deity. The first type is further divided into the body with limbs that possesses limbs such as eyes, and its mudrās (Mudra, Sanskrit, mudrā, literally: seal), such as the wheel and the vajra. The sound deity is divided into two types: sound and the form of letters. The first type, which is the letter expressed as sound, is further divided into mental recitation that focuses only on the sound, whispered recitation, and the conceptualization of thinking about each letter. The ultimate deity is divided into the Dharmadhātu (Dharmadhātu, Sanskrit, dharmadhātu, literally: the realm of dharma) and the non-conceptual wisdom that focuses on the Dharmadhātu (Dharmadhātu, Sanskrit, dharmadhātu, literally: the realm of dharma). The very nature of the practitioner is that which experiences happiness and suffering in this samsara and becomes the basis for attaining liberation, and there is nothing other than these five skandhas (Skandha, Sanskrit, skandha, literally: heap). The five skandhas (Skandha, Sanskrit, skandha, literally: heap) are merely a continuous stream of many aggregates and momentary occurrences, and there is no inherently existent 'self' within them. However, the appearance of dependent origination (Pratītyasamutpāda, Sanskrit, pratītyasamutpāda, literally: arising on the basis of a condition) cannot be denied; this illusory existence can only be called the very nature of 'self'. If analyzed deeply, there is no aggregate or permanent entity. The aggregation of individual dharmas is merely a designation of 'having limbs' and has no real substance. The limbs also cannot be broken down into atoms and moments, so there is no basis, but the appearance of dependent origination, like the moon in water, cannot be stopped. Therefore, that 'self' cannot be distinguished in any form of rūpa (form) and cannot be known. That 'self' also does not fixate on or distinguish rūpa (form), so the skandhas (Skandha, Sanskrit, skandha, literally: heap) are not the self, they are not mutually related, and the 'self' does not control the skandhas (Skandha, Sanskrit, skandha, literally: heap), so liberation from all conceptualizations of clinging to a 'self' is called without limbs or liberation from limbs. If it is said that consciousness enjoys all objects and applies various terms to them, so the 'self' is merely consciousness, then due to the power of the habitual tendencies of conceptualization, when the grasper and the grasped appear as in a dream, although there is the appearance of the enjoyer and the enjoyed, the very nature of that mind... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Even if broken down to the smallest particle, the mind cannot be found either externally or internally. Since it does not possess the characteristics of any dharma such as shape and color, even the five eyes of the Tathagata cannot see it. It is subtle, difficult to understand, and naturally empty. In short, it transcends all the elaborations of self, skandhas, and consciousness. The commentary states: 'The true nature of self should not be merely understood as emptiness achieved through rational analysis. If one attains the true nature of self, which is the nature of non-dual wisdom, one will become a Buddha, therefore hold onto it.' In short, transcending the dharma of the nature of consciousness, and abiding in the wisdom of non-duality of appearance and emptiness, then the true nature of self is such, and the ultimate deity is also the same. It is also called the reality of all dharmas and the ultimate Bodhicitta. Remaining in that state is also the yoga without characteristics. Therefore, in the teacher's commentary, the true nature of self is generally stated as being beyond the elaborations of self, skandhas, and consciousness, or without branches. Specifically, it is without objects such as form, without the aspect of a subject, unmoving, extremely luminous, and clearly experienced through self-awareness, possessing five or six characteristics. Therefore, one should ascertain such a true nature of self and focus on it. Afterwards, contemplate the nature of the deity, which is known as the Kriya Six Deities. First is the emptiness deity: the true nature of self and deity are one and the same in the indivisible Dharmadhatu, without difference. Therefore, one should be certain that the nature of self and deity are one, or one should generate pride, which is the samadhi without appearance. From this state, imagine that the sound of the mantra syllables of any deity is merely a sound emanating from space, this is the sound deity. From that sound, the form of the mantra syllables appears in space, this is the syllable deity. Then, in order to fully manifest the form deity, on the true nature of self, which has become the form of a moon mandala, the essence of the deity, the letters of the mantra, gather together, mixing like pure silver adhering to gold dust. From the nature of self and deity being non-dual and becoming one, light radiates, benefiting the noble ones and sentient beings, etc., clearly manifesting the form of the supreme deity, and generating pride in being so, this is the form deity. Then, contemplate its topknot, etc. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
