Lama is the abode of Dharmakaya (chos sku). In this abode, through 'abode,' 'manifestation,' and 'complete abandonment of self-nature,' abandon the conceptualization that appears as the sound of mantra. 'Abode' refers to abandoning the focus on the letters of the form aggregate; 'manifestation' refers to the sound of mental recitation and whispered recitation; 'self-nature' refers to abandoning the appearance as sound. To explain such meaning, it is said: 'Becoming the abode of sound, or the basis for the arising of recitation, appearing with dependence and having limbs.' All the efforts of the mantra practitioner, such as contemplating oneself as the deity's body, the sound of mantras recited in a whisper, the recitation appearing in the mind, and the words appearing as the sound of mantras, all abandon focus on the unmanifest Dharmadhatu (chos kyi dbyings), becoming completely pure. This is the Lord of Vidyas, the King of Mantras. The Dharmata or Dharmadhatu of all dharmas, all the characteristics or limbs of elaboration are abandoned. This is the Suchness (de kho na nyid) of all dharmas, such as mantras, known and realized by the Victorious Ones. By practicing this, one is liberated from the two obscurations. To explain the meaning of 'dependence' again: withdrawal (slar sdud pa), asceticism, meditation with four limbs, breath control, drawing mandalas, and all ritualistic actions such as offerings and fire offerings, and examining with wisdom to ascertain the Suchness of oneself, etc. In short, mantra practitioners who abide in the efforts of various conceptualizations are dependent at that time. Therefore, when striving in yoga with dependence or with characteristics, one should make the three doors completely guarded, possess the great asceticism of counteracting afflictions continuously and without degeneration, thereby generating in one's own mindstream the Dharma of truly realizing one's own Suchness. Possessing the supreme conduct of Vidyadharas, depending on all the limbs of mantra such as withdrawal, being liberated from the bonds of external objects such as forms, being blessed by the deity and accomplishing the mantra, appearing as the form of the deity's body with limbs or parts or elaborations. One should diligently strive in Samadhi with characteristics. Even so, these appearances with characteristics are still accompanied by conceptualizations, not clearly revealing the true meaning. The path of practicing mantras... --------------------------------------------------------------------------------

In order to achieve the supreme accomplishment through diligence, in that relative state, one should also temporarily abide in asceticism and become accustomed to the Yidam (deity). Once warmth is attained, due to the lack of clarity regarding the true meaning and the influence of dualistic grasping of acceptance and rejection, one is not free from worldly dharmas, being of the nature of doubt, and in relation to the transcendental, authentic dharma, it is merely an inferior meditation, or solely clinging to and being arrogant about a single point. Therefore, by not thinking in this way, one should completely abandon or renounce it. All dharmas are naturally unborn and unceasing, free from the four extremes of elaboration, and one should abide equally in the Dharmadhatu (realm of dharma) of emptiness, which possesses all supreme aspects, and engage in signless meditation. This is called 'peaceful wisdom,' where various notions of sign-grasping and the darkness of the two obscurations are pacified, and clear light, free from all conceptualizations, arises. Therefore, one should cultivate steadfastness without deviating from that. This teaches the signless yoga. Thus, through the yoga of sign-possessing means, by swiftly accomplishing whatever desired Siddhi (accomplishment) between the lower realms and Akanishta (highest pure land), liberating from fear and suffering, and arising from the basis of bliss, the practitioner who possesses the lineage of enlightenment becomes a greatly fortunate one. By becoming accustomed to the signless yoga, he will manifest liberation. And for the sake of the true meaning, by engaging in the union of sign-possessing and signless yoga, relying on the path of the great wisdom of emptiness, which possesses all supreme aspects and is naturally clear light, one will manifest the non-abiding result, the Buddhahood of the union of the two Kayas (bodies). Secondly, the limb of the path is taught from 'semen, excrement, urine, etc., are said to be extremely secret.' This has three divisions: practicing cleanliness, abandoning harm to others, and maintaining asceticism without degeneration. First, since the accomplishment of mantras depends on causes, conditions, and interdependence, the abandonments and acceptances of the limbs of mantra practice must also be practiced without confusion. Emission of semen, excretion of feces and urine, and eating unclean things, as well as the lower winds, whether one meditates on the consort or not, one should not be absent-minded and act carelessly, but be mindful. One should be vigilant, and by that very means of maintaining unbroken mindfulness. --------------------------------------------------------------------------------
