That which is called meditation because it makes gathering stable is not the meaning of the word. Therefore, there are five things here: the time limit, the limb of what is meditated on, the distinction of purity, what is the measure, and the fruit and nature. The first point: as mentioned above, after the ten signs of gathering are complete. The second has three: why meditate? The distinction of limbs? Showing the measure of the accomplishment of meditation. The first point: gathering is meditated on in order to accomplish the unaccomplished form, and meditation is meditated on in order to make the accomplished stable. So, is it made stable by meditating on other objects? Answer: It is made stable by constantly familiarizing oneself with that object. The second point: the former's (referring to gathering) investigation is seeing the coarse empty form, and the analysis is also seeing the subtle empty form. Joy and bliss are the limbs of benefit, the order is: the mental joy and physical bliss that arise from inducing lightness of mind and body. Wisdom is no different from "one-pointedness of mind" in the collection, that is, as it is said, "wisdom and knowable things are exhausted," it is the severance of the connection between object and subject. Some people think that each limb has its own way of meditating, but these limbs are the order in which realization arises after meditating on meditation, so it is unreasonable to have separate ways of meditating. The third point: meditating on the object that is pressed on the body during the time of gathering, the limb of wisdom is the severance of the connection between object and subject, the limbs of investigation and analysis are seeing the subtle and coarse empty form, meditating on that empty form, and finally making the samadhi last, when the limb of benefit, the lightness of body and mind, arises, it is the time when the limb of meditation is accomplished. Some people say, "Hold the clear light in the life force door, hold the clear light on the appearance, hold the clear light in the dhu-ti (Tibetan transliteration)." And the methods of accomplishing the five superknowledges, etc., are regarded as auxiliary methods here, but accomplishing superknowledges is done after meditation is accomplished, so it is unreasonable to use it as an auxiliary method for the unaccomplished, and the others also seem like auxiliary methods for the empty form itself, and the key point has not been found, and no auxiliary method is needed here, which will be explained below. The third point: the aggregate of consciousness is pure and does not arise.

That is how it is. The divisions are ten, from the perspective of the place and the place-holder. The fifth is to attain the five manifest consciousnesses temporarily, and ultimately the accumulation of pure consciousness, etc. Secondly, regarding the limb that accomplishes life, in general, from all the unsurpassed tantras, it is taught that the winds enter, abide, and dissolve in the central channel. Dissolving in the central channel is what is said to be binding, mixing, and killing the winds. Entering and abiding are each taught as a limb, so there are two here. Blocking the life-wind from flowing in the right and left channels, and the instruction to make it enter the central channel is life-exertion. The limb that makes the entered wind abide, or makes the abiding stable, is holding. The first has six aspects. The first is the meaning of the name. The Sanskrit word for exertion is "ayama" (藏文:ཨ་ཡ་མ་,梵文天城体:आयम,梵文罗马拟音:āyama,汉语字面意思:extension, expansion), which means to prevent and to have a long beak. Here, it is explained as the meaning of prevention. There, life is wind, and blocking it from flowing in the right and left channels and making it enter the central channel is the meaning of exertion. From the "Compilation," life is life, and exertion is what makes it extend for a long time, which is the life-exertion of meaning. Although it is said that this does not agree with the word life-exertion, from all the unsurpassed tantras, there is no difference in explaining each wind-combination that blocks the wind from flowing in the right and left channels and makes it enter the central channel as a limb of life-exertion. Although the lower tantra classes teach that the name of life-exertion is the same, the meaning is different. The second is the time limit. Meditate after the two generation stages are complete. At first, without directly focusing on the wind, press the important points of the body and insert the wind into the central channel, thereby taming the central channel. After that, there is a great need for life-exertion to be important when directly focusing on what kind of wind. Also, if the central channel is tamed, life-exertion will be important. Therefore, this tantra explains the order in that way. Just as a result does not arise without a cause, it is not that life-exertion will not arise completely without taming the central channel, because many valid texts say that life-exertion is meditated without taming the central channel. If it is taken that way, it will become a cause for slandering those texts. The third, regarding the certainty of the limb to be meditated upon, there are four: nature, division, method of meditation, and the supplementary ritual if it is not accomplished.
