Thus it is. How do the followers uphold the Buddha's teachings, both scriptural and realized? As the teacher Vasubandhu said, "To uphold it is only to speak, only to practice." This means to speak to others through the three means of teaching, debating, and writing, and to put those principles into practice oneself, i.e., to practice, because these two must be combined. At this time, Jamyang Chökyi Gyalpo (Tsongkhapa) himself, in order to revive the declining Buddha's teachings like rekindling ashes, as his aspiration and wishes matured, spread boundless activities of skillful means. Among them, the chain of scriptures written to ensure the precious Buddha's teachings remain as long as samsara exists is the essence or main part of all activities. That is to say, the 84,000 teachings and so on spoken by the perfectly enlightened Buddha are all spoken to suit the different dispositions, powers, and inclinations of those to be tamed. There is nothing that does not become a cause for the path of liberation, whether directly or indirectly, so everything related to the capacity of those to be tamed should be practiced. However, due to the strictness of the order of determining what to accept and reject, etc., the six extremes and four modes, it has become very difficult for ordinary people to understand, so gradually many learned and exemplary followers have emerged, writing extensive commentaries. In particular, the two great chariots, Nagarjuna and Asanga, have well distinguished the definitive and provisional meanings, etc., and have pioneered the path of the great chariot of profound and extensive Dharma. From then on, in Jambudvipa, the light of the Dharma shone like the spring sun on the lotus of those to be tamed, and the propagation of the Dharma flourished. In the snowy land of Tibet, the Panditas taught, the translators translated, and through teaching, studying, and practicing, the precious scriptures and commentaries were translated into Tibetan, etc. Whether it was the early or later translation, the great sun of Dharma was able to rise. However, due to the strength of the Indian language and the influence of sacred tones, it has become difficult for most Tibetans to understand, so accomplished translators who are proficient are needed to clarify.
